I love astromech droids so I thought I'd throw together an article about the droids and their roles in the game!

Not going to lie, thought this was a new FFG article and got disappointed.
But I'll still read it ![]()
Haha sorry to be misleading. ![]()
I always forget how many droids there are now. the article was good. It is making me reconsider not picking up a transport.
I enjoyed the article. I especially like how you started things off for each little guy with where they came from in the lore. Thanks!
Some things I would recommend including are:
Good read, agree with heychadwick above. Also, perhaps a note about R2D6 and Y-wings, since none of their pilots get EPTs.
I never noticed the R5 astro was actively trying to repair the X-wing
the poor thing is not well equipped for the job ![]()
Fantastic article! I don't have much experience with rebels but have been thinking to fly some X and Y wings. This helps unpack the info for me.
I've never understood the once per round on the R7 droid. The only scenario where you could use R7 twice a round is if Corran Horn shot at you, you activate R7 and spend your TL. Then you shoot at Corran with FCS, then he double taps you and you get to activate R7 again.
Or do they mean only once per round with all R7s? Say I am running two of them?
FFG has really made some worthless/too expensive droids, haven't they?
Speaking of Corran Horn and astromechs, I'm curious why they didn't include Whistler in the game.

Rebel Aces II: Rogue Squadron
Not sure if we will see Corran re-purposed as an X-Wing. He works nicely with the upgrades an E-Wing has working for it, it's just we all attribute him to flying a Green CorSec X-Wing.

Well let's say you've got R7 on Tarn. Someone shoots at you, you take a target lock on them and then spend it.
Then another guy shoots at you and you take a target lock out on him as well, but you can't use R7 again since you already used it on the first attack. Seems like the once per round thing is only to make Tarn less awesome.

Some things I would recommend including are:
- R5 added to Determination means you don't suffer any crits at tall. You still suffer damage with R5, unlike Determination.
- R5-D8 with Porkins isn't that risky. There is only an 11% chance of using Porkins' ability, suffering a hit, and not removing it with R5-D8. That's really not that risky!
- R7-T1 is great for Y-wings. They could use some help turning and usually are in SOMEONE'S firing arc at that range. It is especially great when used with Dutch Vander.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll see if I can squeeze those points into the article.

Corran Horn is a Bada$$ in the E-Wing. I say that as an Imperial who's had him flying circles around my poor Firespray.
But, yeah, I'd really like to see a Rebel Aces II: Rogue Squadron. There are still a lot of pilots - with actual OT screen time - who have not yet been featured in our game.
But, to keep with the OP, are there also astromech droids (other than Whistler) that have not yet been featured?
Maybe we'll see it as a crew card on the Raider.
That, and the Mouse Droid.
Gotta have the Mouse Droid.
