Do you plan to use the new tie advanced?

By bmwrider, in X-Wing

It guarantees at least 4 hits with the potential for more on a better roll.

Accuracy Corrector doesn't guarantee any hits. It guarantees hit results.

I know that's what you meant and I'm nit-picking.

Oh yeah, good catch. Two hit results is what I meant.

A Tie Advanced with Accuracy Corrector and Cluster Missiles is pretty terrifying. It guarantees at least 4 hits with the potential for more on a better roll.

4x Tempest Squadron Pilot

+ Accuracy Corrector

+ Cluster Missiles

100 points

I call this squad; "Decimator, decimated."

Except it isn't 4 hits guaranteed, it is 2 attacks each with 2 hits guaranteed. The defender gets to roll defense on both attacks. Sure, against Decimators they will rip it to shreds, but considering Auto-thrusters are coming first it is highly probably that the number of turret ships will decrease to reasonable levels, plus against Han or Dash those defense dice (especially on Dash) will just be mean.

Against Dash, it's quite possible many hits will be negated. Against Han's single die and two guaranteed evades...gotta say I don't like the odds ("never tell me the--" *cluster missiled to death*)

I'm not a huge fan of the four point pricing nor the whole required low PS requires target-lock shebang (though they have AC to fall back on), but the missiles do turn your Advance squad into an 8 Tie super swarm for a single turn (not all at once necessarily, just assuming you get to shoot them all).

If low agility becomes a thing in the new meta (not likely given the agility scores of the interceptor/aggressor/star viper/advance), clusters will definitely find their way. Otherwise, it's a nice way to punch through bs, ys, and fatties.

Personally not a fan, though I laud it for blowing apart turrets trivially. I will, however, see it gets thrown down in an epic game :) (well, 8 tie advance certainly will)

I tried AC on the TIEx1 and found that 2 hit results won't do well vs. high agility ships. I can see a tempest swarm utterly feasting on large ships, though. It helps that the opponent is forced to decide on focus - use it on attack, keep it in defence of high PS aces, or save it later still for the inevitable hit results of AC.

Advs. Targeting Computer is what I'm looking at now. Mostly on Vader. I'm really looking to Vader to be the competitive ace that we believe in our hearts he can be. Vader with TIEx1, Adv. TC, Predator, and EU is a likely popular kit.

Who is excited to get their hands on it?

Do you like what was done for the TA?

How does x1 accuracy corrector make the TA usable again?

I don't have enough experience to see how 2 hits that can still roll defence dice makes a big difference, its still only 2, and some will miss.

Please keep in mind I lack the needed experience to figure out the meta here.

I play the current Advanced and the new advanced is going to be sweeter. Like sugar on a cookie.

Do we have any idea how many copies of the Tie Advanced title and ATC will come with the Raider? If it's only one copy...

It's 4.

Anyone who is not excited about the new Tie Advanced upgrades is a part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor. Take them away!

Yeah, 4 of each one.

I would love to use the new Tie Advanced, but I won't. Not because it isn't awesome, but because I have zero interest in Epic and won't buy an epic ship for a card... Same reason I don't have Wes, C-3PO, or any of the huge ship cards. By far my biggest complaint about this game is FFG packaging upgrades we want for the "normal" game with epic ships.

To the point, I couldn't agree more. I've always wanted to play the ship. It's not only iconic, but a great looking model!

I have all of the cards mentioned, but haven't bought any epic ships. Many players will buy two or more of the epics and be willing to trade some of their duplicate cards. Check out the Big X-Wing Trade Thread and some good things can happen.

I don't expect this to work for the Tie/A upgrades, but maybe at least for the pilots.

Yeah, 4 of each one.

FFG might be a company that needs to make a profit by putting normal game cards in epic ship boxes, but they sure as **** aren't GW :P

Well, I just breathed a sigh of relief. Thanks for the response.

Other than the AC + Cluster combo pointed out there are 2 others:

ATC + IPM and ATC + HM

Ion Pulse Missiles and Homing Missiles only require a TL to activate which means you are able to Alpha-Strike then follow up with ATC shots from the earlier Lock.

Again, I accidentally wrote "4 hits" instead of 4 hit RESULTS, even though your unmodified results may be better still. I mostly just wanted to point out the damage potential of AC + Cluster Missiles, and how useful it could be against low agility ships.

I've had 3 since almost the beginning. With all the new pilots, hell yes.

Why wouldn't it work for the upgrades? 8 of the same card is an awful lot..

Not for epic :P

Yes! For no other reason then I have 5 of them, that have been sitting on my shelf, except for vader once in a while. Or epic.

Yes they will be flown I don't care, I'm just excited to use them all again!!!

It's bad that I don't even have the S&V ships yet and I'm already planning Advanced lists. Mostly because this fix will also greatly benefit other overlooked ships, such as the Defender.

Why will it help the Defender?

Why will it help the Defender?

Possibly he is refering to the synergy between Vessery and the Advanced Targeting Computer. Since the ATC doesn't spend the TL, it means more TLs on the board for Vessery to piggy-back off of.

Couple this with ATC being more effective on the higher-PS Advanced, you end up with much higher-quality TLs than you would flying Vessery with, say, a bomber or space-cow squad.

True

Sure I can see that.. wasn't really thinking that part through I guess.. lol

Question: Do you plan to use the new tie advanced?
