GOG Lucasfilm Wave II continued! Rogue Squadron! Rebellion! Empire at War!

By millernumber1, in X-Wing

So, obviously, my X-Wing loving head is most excited about Rogue Squadron (and curious to see if we'll get the two sequels officially ported to PC). But the release of Rebellion is pretty exciting, since that one isn't as well remembered as even Galactic Battlegrounds on the RTS front. I have friends who really loved it, though. The last of the Star Wars RTS's, Empire at War, is also released, but it seems to have been like Rebellion, and simply not as widely played. I already have the initial release of EaW, though Forces of Corruption is a bit enticing.

Makes me think that possible future releases are Force Commander, the other two Rogue Squadron titles, and the other Dark Forces games.

Anyone planning on picking any of these up?

Rebellion?!?!?!?!?!

Yup, I'm picking it up. I miss that game.

Rebellion!!! Downloading!

This is absolute torture for me. To feed my brand new X-wing habit I made a new years resolution to not buy any computer games this year. A few days later and all of my favourite Star Wars games arrive on GoG.....

I watched my brother play Rebellion for hours when I was younger. Empire at War was a bundle of fun, but even at the highest difficulty the game became pretty easy. The three-way battle at the end of Forces of Corruption was incredible.

Empire at war I have on steam, along with BF2 and Republic commando (which despite a short campaign is actually one of the best, and THE best prequel game).

Rogue Squadron.... yeah that might need to be picked up. The other two were not native to PC however.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! *dies*

God I loved that game. Severely underrated. You could have epic fleet battles.

Rebellion was called Supremacy here in the UK right? i've been waiting for that for years, i loved that game.

Oh good, I just finished beating Dark Forces last night =). Kyle Katarn is a boss.

What awesome times we live in :)

You mean the mid 90's right?

Games were better back then. PC ones anyway, less graphical focus more originality and variety.

Best news ever! Time to lose more countless hours to these masterpieces.

Ordered a new joystick last night. It will be an Azameens kind of weekend.

Has anyone massed with the updated graphics pack for Alliance? Is it worth the time to install it? It isn't the graphics that make this game good, but if it's easy to do...

It's not bad, but there is a better pack that uses it and gives the game moar ships. Dark wolf i think it is. get that.

Rebel Assault II might be lurking in that lineup.

Rebel Assault II might be lurking in that lineup.

I suspect it will be, but I'm not that interested.

The first Rebel Assault was terribad and I can't imagine the sequel being better.

Rogue squadron was fun, Supremacy (Rebellion) was great for a few games, though it's been superceded by empire at war in a lot of ways.

Empire at war was a very simplified streamlined rebellion...and inferior to it in every way but the actual combat...which was an important but smaller part of rebellion...

IM gonna have to buy rebellion...I've been running a burned copy since high school (class of 2000!!!)...it still works...but **** I need to pay for it.

True, Supremacy was far and away deeper. It was bought for.... what? my 17th birthday way way way back when.

May have been 16th.

(reads release date on wiki)

No, 17th.

I've got EaW on Steam already.

Now, Rogue Squadron...that was a game I've not heard of in a long time. I played this thing as a kid ALL. THE. TIME. One of these days, I'm gonna get a joystick again and I'm gonna buy a whole lotta games.

Every time I play X Wing, it makes me want to go home and play rogue squadron. One of these days I need to find the memory expansion thingy for my N64.....

It's Rebellion, not Supremacy.

Calling it Supremacy is pandering to the demands of a **** UK games developer who thinks sending Cease and Desists to anyone who uses the word Rebellion in their game's title is a legitimate business tactic.

Bought Rogue Squadron, but the bloody deadzones the controls for all these old flight games have makes them almost unplayable.

Rebellion was such a great game.

I remember networking my and my roommates computers so we could play against each other. He was massing his vile rebel ship production on some remote planet. I stumbled upon it with one victory class SD and blew his whole shipyards to heck.

If I close my eyes, I can still hear his "F*******************************************k!" coming from the other room.

Good times for sure.

I loved rebellion, though i'd classify it as turn based strategy more than RTS. Galactic battlegrounds was ok for a couple weeks, mostly just from being desperate for a star wars RTS. Empire at war was much better. Rogue squadron, rebellion, the original x-wing, and dark forces 2 ate many an hour from my childhood.

Except Rebellion was played in real time, and didn't have turns

so, yanno...
