It happened to me

By X Wing Nut, in X-Wing

Farlander just barrel roled into range one of Dash. Farlander has VI Gunner FCS. Farlander has 1 hull left Dash has 3. Farlander attacks 1 Hit one Crit. Dash roll's focus focus. Dash has a focus token. If he spends the focus Gunner will triger (4 dice with a targer lock) if he does not he could get a 2 damage............

Dash puts it all on the line and takes the hits..........

Crit: Munitions Failure: Immediately choose 1 of your secondary weapon Uprade cards and discard it. Then flip this card face down

you can probably still hear the laughter

Dash now rolls 3 dice into Farlander Hit Focus Focus.

It happens more often then you would think I've won 2 games thanks to that Crit on Leebo

Has it happened to you?

Uh, your story doesn't quite add up. Sure, you neutered the outrider, but he still lives. You did 2 damage to him after stating he had 3 hull, followed by Keyan taking three hits with one hull left.

You didn't really win that one.

I think he's playing dash. And he already said that dash had a focus token that he didn't use to defend, so dash ended up with 3 booms against the B, which the B can only possibly stop 1 of, therefore Dash won, because he took a crit.

Well, that was anti-climatic. I had a far worse experiece.

flying dash against echo taking many turns to jockey for a shot while the heads wore down an accompanying chiraneau.

Finally, I am able to block echo and line up a shot. Of course, Echo shoots first, rolls perfectly, I blak everything, and suffer enough shield damage to let one crit through.

I'll give you one guess...

(never played dash again)

Uh, your story doesn't quite add up.

As I understood, Dash had HLC which he discarded because of crit and gained possibility for shooting at R1.

This is correct...if he no longer has a cannon then he does get his primary...

Double post...

I was Farlander thinking I had this in the bag but because of the right Crit I lost if he did not get that crit I would have killed him next round because there was no way he could have escaped my arc

But the question my story is meant to ask if you were Dash (fat) would you let a hit and crit through or allow gunner shoot you again

That depends, on how many crits out of the deck that I knew had been "played" already - in that game.

If you replace the primary with HLC on the outrider and then lose the sec weapon due to a crit how does the primary suddenly appear back on the ship? I would have thought the sec weapon, HLC, is still there it just does not work. If both weapons were there all the time you could choose whether to use primary or secondary and that is not the case.

It's not that you lose the cannon it's the title no longer applies

Yes but surely you still have a cannon equipped its just not useable.

Nope card says to Discard it so you discard it if not one could say it's repairable we need an upgrade card that will do that

I had something similar during my winter championship last week.

I'm playing Dash and being chased by a Blue B-Wing, the last one remaining of an ABBZZ list. Dash has 5 HP remaining and was forced into a corner and is at range 1 of the B-Wing. The only way out was a hard 1 next turn, which the B-Wing could easily block to fly him off the board. B-Wing shoots, manages to get one crit... result: damaged cockpit. Next turn, I finish off the B-Wing.

Are you asking for the game reason why it works the way it does or an in universe fluff reason?

Mechanically in the game the crit says to discard a secondary weapon, once you do that it s no longer equipped and so the outrider title is no longer shutting off the primary.

One possible In universe justification is that once the HLC is disabled Dash, or the outrider's auto-repair systems, or whatever are able to reroute power back to the old, crappy lasers that came stock on the ship and that were never removed, just bypassed to free up power to run the HLC that was bolted onto the hull.
