I know some people are probably already sick of seeing list threads that include upgrades not even implemented in the game yet...but here's another one.

Darth Vader

-Predator, X1, Adv. Targeting Comp, Shield Upgrade

Carnor Jax

-Ruthlessness, RGT, Autothrusters, Stealth Device

Royal Guard Pilot

-Intimidation, RGT, Autothrusters, Stealth Device

I'm pretty set on Vader's build, other than being wishy-washy on the Shield Upgrade; dropping it to a Hull upgrade would put me at 99 points, possibly enough to grab initiative from Whisper, Soontir Fel, etc. My main question is what Elite upgrade to give to the other two. I love the idea of Ruthlessness helping a 3-ship list punch above its weight a little, but putting PTL or Predator on Carnor Jax is pretty tempting. I also like the idea of Intimidation to help soften up other 3 agility ships, but have people found that to be more useful on low or high PS ships? If Intimidation is as useful as I think it could be, it may even be worth it to try to combo it with Outmaneuver on Jax. I have yet to use it in a game so I'm curious about its efficacy.

I'd rather have EU on Vader than Shield Upgrade.

And I'd stick with PTL on the Interceptors.

There's a sub-section for squad lists.

You've got few enough attacks and actions that having a third ship shooting with a focus token is going to be better damage for a three ship list than that ship bumping to use Intimidation. Ruthlessness seems like it is almost as likely to hurt one of your own ships as it is an enemy ship.

That's a lot of survivability that you are trading away for an action that's about as good offensively as the focus that the Interceptors get for free and but is less flexible. He'll already have a lot of actions to choose from, what's having a TL available going to do for him?

I guess he could TL on rounds that he doesn't have an attack so that he'll have Focus+TL the next time he attacks but I think he'd be better off either taking a defensive action or trying to boost or barrel-roll to get a shot or dodge an arc.

I put the advanced targeting computer, engine upgrade and proton rockets on Vader for a game a couple weeks ago. Vader easily eliminated all my opponents wingmen while my shuttle with HLC harassed Han. WIthout the ability to boost vader would not have been as effective.

In the end Han got Vader, but then the shuttle finished Han off for the win.

PTL on the squints, it's almost always better than any other elite upgrade.

Stealth Im not a big fan of, id drop them for a hull. Hull is an extra hit point where stealth may fail. Never trust them green dice :-P

Vader is probably better with EU.

I've experimented with Proton Rockets on Vader, and what I came up with is that two extra dice and re-roll via Target Lock don't feel as sound to me as 3 Focused primary dice and a free crit via ATC. The damage potential is there but on average it's not much better and I can find tons of other places to allocate those points.

I will say that I love the Stealth Device + Autothruster combo. Gives you 4 green dice to fail with- and at range 3, or outside a turret's arc, failing becomes a good thing.

I think you're right. The little bit of a damage spike that you can get from Proton Rockets isn't worth 3 points on an ATC Advanced. There's almost always going to be a better place in your list to spend those points.
