Best support for Super Dash?

By Traxo, in X-Wing

Hello

As the title tells, im looking for the best use of the remaining 42 points while running Super Dash (Dash Rendar with Kyle crew, PtL, Heavy laser cannon, Outrider title and engine upgrade)

The list is for an upcoming SC, where i probably will meet a lot of phantoms, fat han, and decimator list..

Thanks for looking, and looking forward for your response :)

Corran Horn w/ VI, R2D2 and FCS. Against PS8+ ships, just cruise around right behind Dash like a remora so that Corrans arc covers the donut hole, and evade every turn.

FWIW, I think Super Dash is soft to the current meta (2 ships at PS8+ and Phantoms) you should try 53 point VI Dash with 2 B-Wings.

Almost everyone will say super Corran, and there's no real way to disagree :P

I'd rather invest in blockers to keep phantoms away so you can HLC them to death, but I lost interest in the YT-2400 really quickly and never got to try it out.

This has been a topic of much discussion. Here are a few counterparts I have seen run with this Dash variant:

  • 2 Rookie Pilots
  • Ten Numb (VI + HLC + Adv Sensors)
  • 2 Prototype Pilot (Chardaan Refit) + 1 Bandit Squadron Pilot
  • Corran Horn (VI + FCS + R2-D2)
  • Wild Space Fringer (HLC + Gunner)

There are even more viable options. I don't think there is a BEST setup, but rather what works best for your play style.

I won ours using the same dash build with 3 talas.

Only difference I had prockets on dash.

First game I was against

Fel

Ptl

Krassis

Hlc

Two academy

Second game

Chewy

Tarn

Wedge

Third game

Howlrunner

Swarm tactics

5 academy

Backstabber

Can't remember what other upgrades if any were on those builds

It did very well

Ive also done real well with

Dash

Ptl

Kyle

Engine upgrade

Hlc

Outrider

Jan

Veteran instincts

Ion turret

Chewy

Engine upgrade

Moldy crow.

Beaten various whisper builds. Beware of Jan. She has locked down and killed Whisper on many occasions

Plus it is fun to fly

Though I wonder how well either will do once autothrusters is out

I would be wary of running chump ships like Zs or Rookies to counter things like Phantoms. Any opponent with a strategic mind will hold their Phantom back and just trade their support ships for yours, so that your left with Dash vs his counter. Corran with R2 and an evade every turn is tough enough to deny this strategy. The other problem with using low PS support ships is they have a harder time covering the donut hole with their arcs since they have to move before Dash.

I quite like 40pt super Jan (veteran instincts, blaster turret, recon spec, moldy crow title, engine upgrade).

Lets you pump the HLC up to 5 dice, and provides a ps 10 blaster turret for anti phantom tactics. While I've used this list 3 times and lost twice, I still think its pretty fun :D

This probably won't be popular, and I would need to playtest this idea a bit.

Super Dash

Escort with Cracken with wingman and a Rookie

You get a lot of action economy, Cracken can attack and give the rookie a second action for a TL/focus combo. Dash can already do 2 actions but essentially gets a third when cracken clears his stress. If you want, Dash could even take all four of his actions in one turn. Clearing the stress in combat also frees up your movement dial keeping you from choosing between losing actions or flying predictably.

Corran, Jan, z-95's. In that order.

I prefer Nien Nunb to Kyle Katarn, because a 4-straight + boost and/or barrel roll can actually keep you away from a Phantom.

I think Jan is just too fragile to run in a two ship list. She can easily be focused down in one round of firing.

I think you are better off with Roark + ICT + IA and maybe a Prototype pilot. Roark can get Dash into PS 12 Phantom killing land and also can help him figure out where to boost and barrel roll w/ Intel Agent.

I took Keyan Farlander with Dash for some uber-manoeuvring shenanigans.

Keyan Farlander

PTL

Advanced Sensors

Engine Upgrade

Leaves 3 points which aren't all that useful (I used flechette torpedoes, but it didn't work well - perhaps an ion cannon?)

Was fun though!

nvm misread

In a match that is not timed I love running dash and coran together. Take out heavy hitters first, don't get tangled up in any swarms, run through asteroids to try to seperate the other players ships, and then pick ships off from range with the HLC. if Corran takes more than 3 hits I run him out of danger to regenerate with R2 and then bring him back in to pick off those trying to get into dash's range one donut. I often take a few unanswered hits getting into position, but then start blowing ships off the board. I usually end up with dash dead and corran wiping up the last of the enemy ships.

A decloaking Phantom can go just as fast as a 4-straight + boost from a YT-2400. Intelligence Agent is better for escaping Phantoms, 1-straight, then look at their dial and reposition accordingly to make them overshoot.

3 points for prockets on Dash

Cracken - He shoots, gives Dash the option to get his target out of the Donut hole.

I ran Dash with Autoblaster instead just for fun. First time I flew a large ship too.

Dash

- VI

- Navigator

- Autoblaster

- EU

- Outrider

Along with him I ran interceptor Corran

Corran

- R2 Astromech

- PtL

- FCS

- EU

In that game I faced Echo with various upgrades, Howlie and 3 generic TIEs. Echo lost her shields to Dash in the second round, then Corran mopped her up a couple of rounds later. First ship to fall. After a while Dash couldn't hold it and went down when there were 1 damaged TIE and 1 healthy left. Corran cleaned up and got through the game completely untouched. I like running him as an interceptor, he gets a bit more expensive, but the mobility is worth it if you have the points.

Leebo with determination and HLC!

I have had a good track record and so many people forget about the 360degree arc that Leebo has!

How does Leebo have a 360 degree arc with HLC unless you take Outrider title?

He has an HLC, and a 360 arc. That does not mean that the HLC has a 360* arc....
