Hoping for a "Maelstrom" Squadron pilot...

By WarTurtle, in X-Wing

Tie/AD PS 5 w/ EPT - 24 SP

Thoughts?

Keep hoping?

EPT generics have only ever been on 2 ships that are universally believed to house many of the.best pilots for their factions...the defender should get this kind of treatment before the adv. They houses the absolute best the empire had to offer and would gain more from the upgrade.

That's not really true. Green squadron, saber squadron, black squadron, and the new base scum firespray have elite talent slots. It's more common than you think.

Also, there are so much cooler names than maelstorm (which is a little too close to storm, imho). Typhoon, squall, wasn't Eta the default for tie advanced squadrons in tie fighter? (I have given up on a tie avenger)

The Interceptor has an elite generic because it mirrors the TIE fighter, the TIE fighter has an elite generic because it's got three and having them go 1 3 5 would be pretty dull, Green Squadron has an EPT probably partly as an experiment but mostly because it needs more going for it than +2PS, the Scum Firespray has an elite generic to further differentiate itself from the Imperial Firespray.

But yeah, I think the X-wing and the TIE defender are in line for elite generics first.

Ah...yes forgot about those...

But my point still stands...the defender needs this treatment before the adv.

This wouldn't apply to 2-4-6 generic Tie X1 because...

I like the name, and I'm all for having a ships upper end generic have an EPT, but we already know that there isn't a new generic in the raider box and we are unlikely to see another advanced release for quite some time.

I'd down with this. I'd say make it like the RGP, a relatively high-PS generic with an EPT.

It's confirmed that there is no new Generic in the Raider?

It's confirmed that there is no new Generic in the Raider?

The article says 4 new named pilots and if you look at the card spread you can identify the remaining 2 as storm and tempest pilots based on the artwork and the visible PS 2 and 4.

Well...sithspit then. There goes my nefarious plot to load them all up with DTF.

The spread also shows four pilot tokens and only six pilots.
