Too early for this, Autothrusters alone makes such lists viable. Too much of the current meta will hit your ships hard, Turreted big ships, HLCS, Phantoms, Roark + buddies.

Yeah. It's probably the only thing that will still make life difficult for the arc dodgers once Autothrusters comes out.

Yeah, we have to wait until Wave 6 + the Raider until the real interesting stuff comes out
Until then, we get to enjoy the **** sandwich of Wave 5
If you want to try to get much fun out of it, I recommend borrowing enough Ties to fly a swarm (and then learning to fly said swarm). With 7/8 ships, you have to pay almost as much attention as if your opponent had arcs to plan for and it just steamrolls fatties off the table.
The phantom, however, is a problem (not really because of how it maneuvers because it's trivial to block with 7/8 ties, but because of freaking 4 agility versus 2 attack ties)
