Rebel stress lists

By LegionThree, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have been playing a bit on vassal and have seen a few guys playing rebel control lists. I think this is what I need to finally get back into viable four ship rebel lists. What I need are suggestions, on lists and how you play them. This is what I've come up with so far, BTL-A4 being added to Y's once it's out. Im sure I've played against this or something very similar. But I hear imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

Y-WING: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

· R3-A2 (2)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Y-WING: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

B-WING: Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Ion Cannon (3)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

Tactician (2)

HWK-290: · Roark Garnet (19)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

4 ions and two ships that give out stress as well as a shot at PS 12.

I have have plans against turrets and phantoms but feel outgunned against any swarm. So any inputs or advice is welcome. Thanks

A lot of health.

That's also a lot of Ion. Would there be value in swapping in something with some ooommpph?

I really like the Ion Cannon Tactician combo. That would scare the willies out of me playing my Ceptors and Defenders. Nothing worse than an Ioned Interceptor floating into a group of rebels...except when you dump stress on it. And try to find something more predictable than a stressed interceptor.

The PS12 shot will be awesome if they try to bring a Phantom. PS12 pop and no decloak ftw. (I think that's right?)

Correct. A TIE phantom with both a stress token and an ion token is in serious trouble.

If uncloaked, it cannot cloak using its advanced cloaking device when it shoots (as stress prevents actions), nor can it cloak the following turn (as it cannot perform a green manouvre to clear the stress).

If cloaked, it cannot decloak (as it does not reveal a manouvre due to the ion token).

This list is terrifying and I play Rebels lol. All my favorite ships too. Can't say I have a whole lot to say constructively beyond really liking the B-wing Ion Tactician, I borrow the one that came with a friend's phantom just to run stuff like that, and that range 3 Ion sees so little play but definitely has a use here, which you complement nicely with your Ion turret Vanguard. You could open with with throwing Roark's ability to the B-wing allowing him to be firing first at a longer range than any other Ion you bring and potentially screw up the day royally (pardon the pun) of many an interceptor list, like I did last night admittedly just with one Ion :)

Cool stuff.

This list did reasonably well at Worlds:

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Tactician (2)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

R3-A2 (2)

It loses out on having Roark boost someone to PS12 and isn't quite as ion heavy as your list but the block of 3 B-Wings can put out some nice damage.

I like the List WWSHD put up because of the offensive potential. If you can ion someone roll up and go to guns with the B wings. Having Ys with BTL-A4 helps mitigate that differance once scum comes out.

The other thing I am debating is how much stress is needed to be effective. I want to bring as many guns as I can, to cover as much area as I can but I don't dare lose stress/ion effects. The list I originally put up had 6 and WWHSDs posted list has 5. I don't know if you can make it work with 4, or if your control is too spotty at that point.

Try the panic attack list talked about above first:

Blue sqn, E2, tactician x 3

Gold sqn, ion cannon turret, R3A2

Key is to layer your firepower to ensure you can stress what you want to stress, r2 tactician isn't terrible but it can be limiting. I think two blokes took it to the top 32 at worlds, it definitely has legs. What's not to love about B wings?

Then try something with a few more tricks:

Roark, ion cannon turret, mouldy crow, jan ors (29)

Cracken, swarm tactics (21)

Blue sqn, E2, tactician (25) x 2

Ps12 stress is brutal on a phantom, there's also crackens ability to hand out an action, eg a free barrel roll to ensure range 2. You might be able to squeeze an ion pulse missile in if you downgrade Roark, but I think it's solid as is.

I also think nera with deadeye and a flechette torp could work in a Roark list, she just seems to be a few too many points for her gimmick. Nice trick on a phantom, but no better than a blue against dash, Han or the admiral.

I'm glad people are talking about 4 ship rebels again, it's been nothing but phantoms and big ships in tourneys for what feels like forever.

I'm flying this on Vassal at the moment:

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Fire-Control System (2)
Flechette Cannon (2)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
