I wonder if that was an intended effect for Fel's Wrath or just a funky quirk that never got fixed because the poor guy is so terrible anyway.

Hey now, I like Fel's Wrath. Not only can I fly a group of 4 interceptors with her but she is a Corran killer. Since she doesn't "die" until the end of the combat phase, if Corran doubles up and kills her during the end step with his attack, she lives for an additional full round - move/action/attack. I used that to kill Corran with her during the turn he couldn't attack.

Interesting, never thought about that! My vote goes for Rhymer. I so want to use him and never can fit him in. I heard from play-testers that originally he and Ten Numb had each other's abilities, which might explain the points. Like they swapped them but didn't re-evaluate the cost maybe? I suppose an errata or reprint card lowering his cost by a couple points will never happen though.

You'd have to dig into the cost of ordinance as well

A PTL rhymer (TL + Focus) with advance proton torpedoes is basically guaranteed 5 hits at range 1-2, but he comes out costing as much as a falcon for two (admittedly incredibly powerful) shots from a PS 7 ship with a bleh dial.

Fel's Wrath with TC is actually a pretty solid ship to have with Vessery. A higher PS kills Wrath? That's nice, he's still around and has a lock which means Vessery gets one more round of shooting shenanigans.

Optimal? No. But it's not bad.

Arvel needs a lot more than that. An EPT would let him have predator which would make him much more effective. What really killed Arvel was the ruling that you can't boost into enemy ships. If he had something like Dauntless or Advanced Sensors he would be beneficial. Getting screwed without an action is just awful. Maybe if you were flying with Cracken or Kyle Katarn he would get an action and be happy. God he sucks so bad...

He's not great but I don't think that "sucks so bad" is accurate. He's got a situational ability, but one that it doesn't cost anything to use. In the current high PS meta he makes a reasonable blocker that still gets to attack what he blocks. Post Rebel Aces he gets an EPT and a 2 point reduction.

If that's what you wanted, that's what you got from the title. A-Wing Test Pilot essentially boosts your PS by 2 for 1 point. If the pilot couldn't take VI before the title now they can, if they could take an EPT before, now they get to take VI and still take an EPT.

The only A-Wings that can't take VI now are the last one you'd want to give it to, your PS1 blockers.

Meh, 2 Academies w/ TC can do the same thing. Also, why would anyone shoot at Fel's Wrath when Vessery is still on the board?

I don't see Arvel doing anything more spectacular than a standard prototype pilot. I'd rather have the PS1 for a blocker anyways. Half the time with Arvel it's like you're hoping they will end up in your way and you can ram them with the added benefit of firing a 3 die unmodified shot. His pilot skill and pilot's skill are not worth the cost. So many places I'd rather spend that.

I feel like Lorrir has fallen into obsoletion too, what with phantoms everywhere. His ability was like a precursor to the cloak mechanic. Kinda bummed that he isn't so useful anymore, because he was the Ace I was most excited for. Sure, now I can fly phantoms, but...that's just not the same. (insert personal grudge against phantoms for murdering the meta)

They do have a different roll, but Ibbys roll is kind of useless in the new meta. Who cares if she can tank if she's getting out-maneuvered by every **** thing?

She's just completely overshadowed now by the two newer named pilots. Ten Numb has always been kind of crap due to his silly price. I do think he'll gain some new life with the Mangler cannon. For 36 points (mangler + VI), you get a Phantom sniper.

If you want Arvel to work, or any of these pilot to work you need to build a list around them.
