NOVA Squadron Radio – Episode 16 “Wave 3 Part 1: The Imperials!”
Well, crap. Work won't let me download it. I'll have to walk out the front of the building to get a signal. Going.........now.
Happy to help pass the work day!

Hey don't fall of the balcony while holding your phone into the air searching for a better connection...
Edited by ForceMNo balcony, and I realized it's an awesome day out! 67 degrees out! So, I downloaded it and took a walk around my work's campus. 34 mins into it.
EDIT: Listening to you guys bag Laetin A'shera. I think his/her ability is best used vs. Falcon or anyone else with Gunner. Give this guy a HLC and fire away at the big ships. They will be hard to shoot down with the bonus ability. Maybe throw on a Stealth Device. Great to try to resist the shots from Fat Han, but also great to evade the Z-95's that come later. Or maybe a Tie Swarm.
EDIT 2: Listening to you guys wanting to make the Scyk work. I did a list: Scyk and Destroy:
Laetin A'Shera w/ Heavy Scyk and Ion Cannon
4 x Cartel Pilot w/ Heavy Scyk and Ion Cannon
You just Ionize the big ships off the board.
EDIT 3: Mangler Cannons. What about the Imperial Firesprays? Kath Scarlet would love this thing. Talk about synergy. Also, Krassis can use it without it costing too much.
Edited by heychadwickYeah, we talked after we recorded the show about the Mangler Cannon on Kath. It just did not occur to anyone while recording. I am sure it will come up again.
... and you didn't even mention Darkhorse's article on Tie Bombers!
I'm going to be running something similar to My Name Is Jonus at my local store championships. With the number of big ships I see, I hope to do well.
I will say that I was able to catch an Outrider & HWK-290 in a bomb field and took 4 off each. I was then able to fire missiles that turn, as well.
EDIT: on to the Space Cow now. No mention of Adv. Sensors w/ Engine Upgrade? You boost first then sharp turn. Works pretty well.
Edited by heychadwickThanks Ed for the shout out on the Galactic Cup. I appreciate you helping to get the word out. I've had good responce so far, but I'm still looking for a few more Co/To's.
Now Vadar on the Decimator or Doom Boat (MJ I'll add that to the slang post) I would run that ship very differently then how I would run Vadar on a shuttle. Vadar on a turret ship is a sniper. When you need a for sure kill is when I think that Vadar is great.
Great episode guys.
Sweet, I invented a phrase and it might catch on! ![]()
My mission is now complete.
chadwick -- I too am saddened by the fact that we did not give the Albino Space Bovine its proper time and credit. However we had to stop recording and go to bed eventually, and the episode was quite long as always.
If you feel you feel that you are low on your Lambda Shuttle fix, I highly recommend listening to the Scum and Villainy podcasts. They are rabid fans of the Lambda over there. Be careful. It may be contagious.
Edited by MajorJugglerThere was a mention of a Wedge dash list, I'd love to hear it's full contents
I'll ask Chad what that list was and get back to you.
Hey Ed or Kelvan, I went to the Nova Squadron Radio homepage and downloaded the mp3 of episode 16, and instead it gave me episode 14 again. Is the link incorrect, or am I just technology-challenged?
Edited by rmb43LOL! I will check myself. Also, Kelvan (a.k.a. Ricky from Scum and Villainy) while operating an amazing podcast in his own right, doesn't work on staff with NOVA Squadron Radio. Although, if we could steal him...lol
[EDIT]
Ok, so it looks like I forgot to update my show notes prior to publishing.... there is a "Direct Link" section in the show notes, ignore those. Those go to Episode 14 for some reason. However directly below the audio player is a download link. Use that one, it is working.
Thanks for the heads up!
Ed

I was more saddened by the Tie Bomber dismissal. Darkhorse's article was pretty interesting and I always like it to see a creative approach on things.
Good podcast.
I think Flight Instructor was an early attempt to throw a counter at the dominating swarm meta that you had around wave 3. It was a very unsuccessful attempt as they priced it twice as much as it should have been. At 2 points, it could have been a decent crew member to throw on a shuttle or Falcon.
I like Sensor Jammer on IG-88C with ATs and LW, good luck killing him.
Edited by Jo JoOk cool. Apparently I am fine with computers, just bad with names. ![]()
That's cool...it was my own mistake for messing up the link.
I heard you guys talking about how bad Flight Instructor is. I don't disagree that it might have been a good card if it was just slightly different but ended up being a pretty bad card.
However, I did bump into one build that seemed to almost make it worth the points. The person that built it did know that he was going to be running up against a mini-swarm and either a Phantom or PTL Interceptor.
It was something like this:
Yorr w/Rebel Captive, Sensor Jammer, Flight Instructor (I think it had an HLC)
Carnor Jax w/PTL + Hull
Dark Curse w/Hull
He planned on Yorr probably never getting an action after the first round or two so rolling a focus was as good as rolling a blank. It was rare for any of the TIEs that were within range one of Carnor to be able to get damage through to the Shuttle. I was surprised at how long it took me to kill that stupid shuttle.
Edited by WWHSDThat's a lot of points to turn the ship you want them to shoot into an unappetizing target.
That's a lot of points to turn the ship you want them to shoot into an unappetizing target.
There weren't really a lot of better choices for the swarm to shoot at most of the time. The Phantom took Dark Curse out fairly quickly but Carnor was doing a pretty good job of using the shuttle, asteroids, and my TIEs to make it difficult to get a good shot on him.
But yeah, that was a really expensive shuttle.
Edited by WWHSD... and you didn't even mention Darkhorse's article on Tie Bombers!
Darkhorse's article is an excellent piece, thank you for drawing my attention to it!
I do feel that Sable Gryphon's 4-2 finish twice at Worlds is more noteworthy than Dark Horses's wave 4 Regionals win, particularly because only 8 players were present. I do like his idea of carpet bombing, although it is still a fairly expensive proposition.
So much Hawk hate! ![]()
Roark + Moldy Crow + Blaster Turret + Crewbacca is very underrated IMO. It has a good competitive history too (won Spanish Nationals, top32 Worlds, top list at the Dice Dojo Store Championship this year in Chicago ...)
Edited by sozinFair point Sozin, but not everyone can fly that list like you can!
If it were me flying it, Roark would die early and that would leave Chewie alone and taking the brunt of the damage.
Plus, with only 4 bare attack dice on the table, I just would not be able to do enough damage before I am blown off of the board. I am gonna have to challenge you Sozin so I can see that list fly!

Yes, Sable Gryphon's wins are more noteworthy, but I like Dark Horse's technique. We can't all have large tournaments in our neck of the woods or the ability to get to the big ones.
I also think that since Wave 5 has come out, that there are EVEN MORE BIG TURRETED SHIPS! At least, that's what I've seen lately. The local store event that I'm looking forward to will most likely be after Scum comes out, though, so I'm not sure how I'll do. I have been trying the My Name is Jonus list. I find that it's great against big ships. I need more practice vs. a VT-49 & Phantom list. I also want to try against a number of B-wings. I know the local champ likes B-wings w/ a HWK. I'm hoping the splash damage from Assault Missiles will work for me. That and the bombs will be hard for him to dodge if he's not expecting it and in just right...
