Shall We Turn East or West?

By MyNeighbourTrololo, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Gather Information is awesome. I do love tutor effects. :D

I think sidequests add some nice replayability to the game. I wonder if we might see a POD sidequest expansion filled with scenario specific sidequests (or even generic ones) that we can sprinkle into past quests?

Perhaps side-quests are "locations" as they should have been... More than just a threat in the staging area. Although they have increasingly adjusted that by forced effects of the locations cards, this feels a lot more epic and thematic.

I have a question:

Is "Gather information" a player card or just a card with player card back?

Can we use it in every scenario or just in a certain scenario?

Is it neutral?

Also, another incentive to finish those encounter side quests would be the Victory Points! 10!!! Wow. I myself usually never worry about score, but it's always fun to get a huge amount like that. Gives some sort of feeling of accomplishment.

The only problem I have with "Limit 1 per deck" cards is the fact that I, a single handed solo player, am getting two useless copies.

At least we don't get 3 copy of the hero. I couldn't imagine how A:NR guys react each time they open a data pack...

Well, those 10 victory points just compensate you (point-wise) the round you wasted on clearing this side quest. And that's only if it took you only 1 round to clear it.

I see no reason to believe it isn't a normal player card that you can use in any quest. I would also assume it is neutral, like the boons.

Would be a blast running this side quest 1 copy in each deck in a 3-4 player game.

It would be really good in Assault on Osgiliath and similar stages, when your progress is discarded

This quest idea is really amazing.!

Only one thing is disturbing me…..

You will get a box , win all the quests from first attempt without any problems and put box on a shelf to wait until Nightmare come for that box to really enjoy the game…. That become annoying to me….

Do you only use overpowered decks or what? Outlands, Dwarves, etc.

No, he uses all sorts of decks. He's just a great deck builder and player. Glaurung, you should just count yourself lucky that they have even come out with Nightmare decks. :)

Or he should just make his own nightmarishly nightmarish nightmare quests with select cards from his entire card pool

Haha, yea. Just throw any version of the Balrog (or all of them), some Blocking Wargs, some Sleeping Sentry cards, The Witch King, and some Hill Trolls into every quest. Of course, then you'll need to swap out some of the weak cards to ensure that these nasty cards show up frequently. :)

Heck, just add every Nazgul enemy from A Knife in the Dark to the quest and that should up the ante plenty.

I would correct you in "all sorts of decks" by adding "all sorts of power decks".

Oh, we have fun don't we.
What would we do if we didn't have Glaurung to tease :)
