I just had a very strange thought...

By GrandAdmiralCrunch, in Star Wars: Armada

Armada vs. Star Trek Attack Wing. I mean literally; play the systems against each other.

Could we finally end the debate about who would win in a fight, (Enterprise vs. Star destroyer)?

Would it be absurd to even try?

Absurd, Yes, and completely impossible. Attack Wing is a crappy game system (for huge capital ships) using crappy out of scale miniatures.

Recreating a Star Trek version using the Armada system/bases and simlarly scaled models (I made a game using 1/2500 Star Trek model kits), totally possible.

But why go through all that trouble when we already know the ImpStar would win?

You know some Star Trek fans would argue that the Attack Wing system better reflects Star Trek ship battles.

Only to settle the pointless debates once and for all.

I am also a huge Star Trek fan, and I disagree, Attack Wing is a crap rip-off of X-Wing to cash in on its novel movement mechanic and shift several warehouses of ex-heroclix Star Wars miniatures that never sold. Once you realise that about the game, it suddenly makes sense why it is so clunky and terrible.

I am as well, and I agree with your assessment of that game. Everything i've seen and heard says that is has been mishandled every step of the way. I hate that Wizkids has the rights, and keeps pumping out excrement with terrible components, half baked gameplay, and unbalanced, (and often untested) support. They are an unending stream of dissapointment.

I can only dream about a decent game company could do with the license.

Well, since a constitution class starship is just under 300 meters http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Constitution_class

and a Nebulon B is 300 meters http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/EF76_Nebulon-B_escort_frigate

and a Galaxy Class is 641 meters, and a Gladiator class is 500 meters, and a Victory class is 900 meters, it should be entirely possible to create a Star Trek version of Armada if one can find suitable miniatures to look roughtly "to scale" on the small and medium bases.

I did this in X-wing using 1/2500 scale ships (TMP era) on the X-Wing "large ship" bases, but an armada version would work much better :)

My WIP fleet of TOS/TMP era ships adapted with X-Wing large bases :)
