Is there a way to flip the board in VASSAL?

By AdmiralThrawn, in X-Wing

Title says it all, I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it easier to play on VASSAL when your on the bottom, so is there a way to flip your view of the board upside down from its original position if you start at the top? That way either player can have it oriented however they like.

If there currently isn't away to do this, I think it would be a cool feature for the next update.

Nope.

However, you can play left to right. That evens it out.

When he said flip the board I was imagining a really pissed off dude losing. There should be an option to forfeit the game by flipping the board/table if you ask me.

EDIT: stupid phone auto correct...small keyboard and overly long fingers.

I wish there was a way to flip the board permanently to where it doesn't exist anymore. I despise Vassal. It gives everyone else an unfair advantage. I do not have regular internet access therefore I do not get to practice with the new previewed things months in advance.

You're always welcome to throw your computer out of a window. But yeah, I agree that rotating the view would be great, although it might be the sort of thing that might not be accessible to people making the plugins for specific games. Not that I know.

I used all of wave 4 early on VASSAL and to be honest it took the excitement and some of the fun out of finally getting the ships in person. Waiting until you can play with new stuff in real life will always be the way to go for me, just my opinion.

No. The Vassal engine doesn't support it AFAIK.

you can always rotate your dials to match where the ships are going. This helps make sure you are turning and banking in the right directions. Another thing I use is to remember the Pilot Skill (orange) number is on the left of the ships token. Many games I choose to play from the top and have gotten very use to it. Vassal is a great way to get games in as there's not always people around my house to play with my ships. I understand the excitement is lost a little if you settle into a build before you even have the ships. However you will always see post on here of people playing Vassal and the squads doing well.

I personally just dont play with stuff that has not been released yet, but I am quite happ vassal exists, otherwise i would rarely get to play.

If you're playing with two monitors, you could put the map on your second one, and tell your comp to orientate it upside down. It might make it weird to click on the ships to actually move them, but it could help you envision where to go if you have that problem.

Me too... And a great idea if you ask me :D

Muon, please add!

So break out some post-its and mock up the cards... For maneuvers, you can write your moves down, or make a generic dial out of cardboard. Not that hard. I do it all the time.
