Deep Breath ruined all the built up credibility her character had. Destroyed everything about season 7 and the extra episodes where she was seen before she was a companion.
Listen she created a neurosis for the Doctor ... great job.
Kill the Moon she was acting like a brand new companion all over again.
Dark Water .... total fail as a companion. She got her "reward" for that behavior at the end of Death in Heaven so it was handled with her going her own way.
Then Last Christmas magically redeemed her whole season of issues?
so this is what nerd rage looks like from the outside
I am a nerd, and I admit that freely. it was meantas a joke which I had hoped to cause a chuckle, not at an insult.
by outside I had meant in two ways.
1. im not a whovian
2. having been in two such conversations recently, on the midi hate and clones threads, and it was nice not to be involved in it andable to view it from the not involved perspective.
this was a bad joke, and that it hurt feelings I do apologize for.
Outside? You are in a forum about a roleplaying game regarding a fantasy scifi genre. I think just entering here garners you the nerd label. I think most of us here wear it as a badge of honor having come to accept what we are long ago. You are apparently still resisting such a title for yourself? Relax and let the nerd flow through you.
Mishelle I'm hoping you didn't mean that sentence to be as offensive as it comes off. If not, you might want to consider the thread title wasn't actually asking for such, "art".
The art of Bullying someone...
Is it just me or has Gryphynx left the forum?
I haven't seen him for a while either
Desslok, I appreciate the shout out. I'm actually moving at the end of February to Kissimmee, FL for career and family. I'll miss the Pacific Northwest, but hopefully I can find some gamers down near Orlando.
good luck down there, happy

One of my cardinal rules to living well is avoid close proximity and any bodily contact with a living creature in excess of my own body weight unless paid to do otherwise. This applies to all situations (
). Sadly, my careers (first as a corrections officer then a mental health tech, now as a nurse) have forced me to add the italicized conditional clause to what I'd like to have made an ironclad rule.
So horseback riding and going to see tigers is something I am likely to avoid.
I guess riding tigerback is out too ![]()

Total random aside? I was bitten by a tiger once.
. . . . .
No, seriously.
Okay, it was an 11 week old Bengal tiger CUB and she really didn't mean to do it, but I I was still bitten by an actual, honest-to-goodness tiger. I had my camera bag with me in the petting area, and she, being a kitten, does what all excited and playful kittens do - lunge for the dangling thing! When I tried to deflect her from eating my camera, her open mouth met my hand and CHOMP!!
No she didn't maul me, no she didn't break the skin, and it wasn't intentional - but dear god does she have a strong bite! So yes, it still counts, and I have one less thing on my "To-Do" list.

Colin Baker seemed much more abrasive, and I didn’t like him nearly so much.
To be fair, he got stuck with some terrible scripts. Later on in the Big Finish radio plays (where he and Peri reprises the roll) he acquitted himself nicely.

Boo! If everyone leaves the Pacific Northwest then nobody will be left to play Star Wars with. Even if it is terribly rainy and foggy and depressing 10 months out of the year.

This is a typical troll, or even someone who actually believes they are that great, and find this forum, come here to enlighten us with their grand wisdom, when it fails, they disappear in the void, pretty much leaving our little community actually that much better and tighter.
While I have to say that there are many ideas and ways of thinking I don't agree with there on this forum, I do have to say that I have respect for about 99.9% of the members here and their thoughts and feelings. Just because I don't think I would enjoy someone's house rule set-up doesn't mean I don't like them. But if I do say, hey this sounds like a bad idea, that is not an attack on that person, it just means that...it could be a bad idea. Right now there is a pretty big thread about some combat mods/house rules. I have stayed cleared of that one, because no matter what I say I won't have any real input into the conversation, and definitely won't make it any better. (it kills me though that someone is going to make a Star Wars RPG GREATER, but can't spell Wookiee correctly
) Hey if that guy's group is having fun and enjoying it, then great. I have been a player in games where I don't like the house rules, and when I bring it up to the GM, I get, well this is how I run my game. To me, any house rule should be up to everyone in the group to use it or not.
My final thoughts on this crazy thread. When you come to a public place looking for feedback, you can't and should not expect all the feedback to be positive. By getting false praise, it does nothing to help you. I have started threads with some ideas, and not everyone here thought they were gold like I did, and it helped me see how to make my ideas better. The true feedback is what can help you to improve yourself. But we all must remember that we all can not be actors, musicians, scientists, surgeons, or even mechanics. And some of us may not be fit to be Game Masters, and should stick to being players.
And being told so is not bullying anyone. ![]()
Well, I guess if we do the whole "Who am I?"-thing in this thread then I am not gonna let Deslok (who looks pretty stoned in that tiger picture by the way) be the only one putting himself out there like that.
So here's me in a douchy cowboy hat on the morning I started my John Muir Trail Thru hike last summer.

And here is me playing a game of X-wing and losing by the looks of it...

I have gotten several people to be fans of Doctor Who because they saw the right episodes first.
That I think is the key for growing any fandom. Can't just throw people to the wolves, they just won't get it. Gotta go with the parts with wide appeal (or the appeal targeted for the friend you're trying to infect) to get them into it.
One less thing on your To-Do list, Desslock?
Makes me wonder what else is on your list.
Ok, so over in another thread, someone mentioned the old Boot Hill moduels from TSR, and I thought "Hey, I should see if I can find them!" I didnt find copies of the games . . . yet, but I did find something too crazy not to share! Quite possibly the most masculine magazine ever:

Ah, but we can do better than Bazooka GI Joe. How about this:

Ah, but what's better than Cannibal Crabs? Flesh Eating weasels!

I'm noticing a theme here. . . .

Mind you, I think the "I was attacked by Turtles" was just a step too far. . . .

Who's gonna save the wee turtles!!!

I'm not so sure I've earned the Nerd title but, thanks to EotE, I'm working hard toward it. I can't do things like read comic books or play video games so I'm at a disadvantage but I think my interest in astrophysics and quantum physics might make up for it.
Haley you're just as much a nerd as anyone else here and don't let anyone ever tell you different.
Edited by mouthymercOh please girl - you're on an internet forum talking about role playing games. In the 80's that alone would have made you the most Nerd nerd in highschool.
@Haley: "... astrophysics and quantum physics ..."
Don't mind having an interest, just knowing how to spell those words without need for spell checking software is probably going to adequately make up for not reading comics or playing video games.
Too... many... really cool... British shows... being... mentioned... Head... exploding...
Jeez, you guys have just been discussing how I spent the 1980's
I watched "Blake's 7" religiously every Sunday night (a friend of mine loved the show, too). We were both big Avon fans. I was such a big fan of "The Prisoner" that I drove to Portmeirion when I visited the UK (I have pictures of myself sailing the stone boat
) I think I still have almost all of Tom Baker's "Dr. Who" recorded on VHS somewhere. The episode of "Dr. Who" that Douglas Adams wrote was, I think, "Pirate Planet", which was a campy, but fun series (gotta love the mechanical parrot on the captain's shoulder). Oh, and I used to love watching old Hammer horror movies on our local Creature Feature show Saturday night.
Tom Baker is still my favorite Doctor, and my favorite companion will always be Sarah Jane Smith (I was so bummed when I heard that Elisabeth Sladen had died). I did enjoy John Pertwee, though; he played a very dapper Doctor. Oh, and I even went to TimeCon here in the Bay Area a few times in the 80's (and yes, I've been to Star Trek conventions, too). Got to meet Colin Baker, Sarah Sutton, Ian Marter, Sylvester McCoy, Nicholas Courtney, and a few other members of UNIT.
As for people not "getting" Dr. Who, or even the original Star Trek, when they're nerds in every other aspect of life
, it might be that the tech end of TV making has advanced so much in the last 20 years or so, especially with computer animation, that some people can't get over the rubber masks and flying plastic models. We're so used to computers giving us high production value in even the stupidest of shows that the older shows look really shabby in comparison. Yes, both of those shows had really simplistic special effects, but they still have fun, exciting plots, and they still captured my imagination. And we sometimes forget how many excellent science fiction writers wrote episodes for the original Star Trek.
And speaking of obscure British shows, another favorite of mine was the original "Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin". Not a geek show, but hilariously funny nonetheless. I still have visions of hippos trotting along to bouncy music ![]()
Whew... got all that off my chest
Now, everyone continue your regular Star Wars conversation.
PS: Oh, and "Dave Allen at Large" ruled!!
