simultaneous fire and vessory

By Truegreek, in X-Wing Rules Questions

this is just a little mental exercise I thought of, putting a hypothetical situation that shouldn't ever matter but seeing how it works.

so the imperial list has kenkirk at ps6, and vessory at ps6. Kenkirk has Vader, and a tl on rebel x-wing A. Now the kenkirk only has 2 hp left, and has to kill the x-wing, so he uses Vader but forgot to fire vessory first. So kenkirk will die, but the question is does he die after vessory shoots, as they are both at the same PS.

what made me think of the situation is that simultaneous fire, if a rebel ps6 shot, had iniative and killed kenkirk, vessory still gets his tl ability since the shuttle gets to shoot back, but without that rebel pilot is vessory out of luck?

Simultaneous fire only applies to ships that have not yet had the opportunity to fire. As Kenkirk has fired, he would be removed immediately.

Another exampke would be Biggs v 2 PS 5 empire pilots.

If Empire has initiative, both ships would have to fire at Biggs, even if the first one dealt sufficient damage.

If Biggs had I initiative and had already fired, then when the fjrst ship kills him, he is removed immediately and the second ship doesn't have to worry about Biggs ability.

okay, that makes some sense. The main argument in my mind is whether the ship is removed immediately or are the removed at the end of the PS phase, when you check down in this example from 6-5

In a Simultaneous Fire situation, destroyed ships will linger only until they've had the opportunity to attack. Once they've done so, they're immediately removed. They don't wait until the end of the PS cycle.

Except for Fel's Wrath, all ships are removed immediately if they are destroyed. Unless the opposing ship that killed them has the same PS, then the ship is only removed after it had a chance to shoot.

In your case Vessery and Kenkirk are not opposing ships so Simultaneous Fire situation does not apply.

But for your second question. If a PS6 rebel (with a TL from Kenkirk) kills Kenkirk (PS 6 ), I think you can have vessery attack first and gets his own TL with his ability and then Kenkirk attacks and is removed from play when Kenkirk is done with his attack.
