Starviper costs and extra £2?

By mazz0, in X-Wing

Just posted this on the Armada forum by mistake, so here it is for the correct audience (I wonder how big the cross-over is - how many of you are going to buy both?).

So according to the pre-order on Amazon the Star Viper costs £14.99, as opposed to £12.99 for the little interceptor who's name I can't spell. Wonder why that is.

It's the same in the US. Thr StarViper is $19.95 whereas all the other small based ships have been $14.95. The StarViper is a bit bigger and has an odd profile, which likely accounts for the increased price point.

The SV is coming with more stuff. 9 upgrade cards as opposed to 5 in the Syck.

Bigger ship needs bigger packaging so gets bigger price.

Hoping it comes with more than one copy of Autothrusters...

I believe it comes with 2.

Bigger packaging needs different pricing. Just like the Decimator.

I like to think it's cause the thing is so freaking ugly.

But the people above me are more than likely correct.

It doesn't fit in the blister. They had to expand the blister for it, so they had to raise the price to make it viable. Their production cost is the plastic. To compensate, they threw in a load more cards.

Sounds like a reason to discount it, not make it more expensive.

But there are plenty of people who would argue that it's a beautiful ship, so maybe it is an aesthetics thing. :P

ZING!!!

Point taken...

I'd contend that those who think it's beautiful need to get their eyes checked...they aren't seeing properly...

But in all seriousness yeah it's aesthetics.

Well, we can't all have had our aesthetic sense ground down by years of looking at 40K =]

I'd be willing to part with $20 for small ships and $40 for large ships if it fixed the supply issues.

Inflation sucks?

Inflation sucks?

No...inflation blows.

Bigger model, more plastic, and has almost twice the regular number of upgrade cards in the blister, as stated before.

Anything to do with "ugliness" is mere slander by Lord Xizor's enemies, envious of his exquisite starfighter design.

My lord could destroy your lord with a mere whisk of his hand. Pray the ugliness of your "space bug" only sightly offends his eyes...so that he may not hunt your filthy types down completely.

Well well well, looks like we found something to disagree about. The viper is a beautiful ship. Well at least a ship thst slightly resembles the Star Furies from Babalon 5. That alone makes em cool.

Hah, I never got into the minis due to being crap@painting, read plenty of the books though.

It's 2£ more expensive because it's 2 lbs heavier.

Is that how language works?

Some colours are heavier than other "colors".
