Leebo SA Timing Question

By Darph Nader, in X-Wing Rules Questions

While playing a match yesterday the following scenario occurred...

Leebo who had 1 hull left was dog piled by Oicunn but after defense dice mods it was determined that he would take two face up crits.

So even though he would be destroyed regardless, does Leebo still get to choose the manner of his destruction via his SA?

Yes. He chooses the card that will be applied. If he had determination, and one (or both) of the crits was a pilot crit, he would then discard it and suffer no damage.

Much obliged, although Leebo didn't have Determination it would have been the logic answer to this query.

Just interested to know, but was it a choice that would have helped?

Not really as, first Leebo was a gonner.

Then even with the choice having Chewie as his wingman, the Wookiee wouldn't have seen a face up crit away.

It was more to clarify that I could draw both face up cards on each crit, in order to choose which one killed and then overkilled the droid.

With two crits being dealt, you would get to use his ability on each one. But not that it helped. :)

If it's the last ship standing it doesn't really matter whether you trigger Leebo's ability. But if you have another ship left, then filtering out the most damaging crits can be vital.

But that doesn't filter out the most lethal, it filters out the top two, one is applied to Leebo, the other is discarded... But there is no way to know whether the next card in the deck is more or less lethal
