Check out my War Droid!

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

PROTIP: If you put it in the game, the PCs will want to steal it! Hence why I have to come up with stats for a Basilisk war droid. I put one in the game and my players nicked it, and now I have to come up with stats for the fool thing!

So, I dug out my copy of the Knights of the Republic sourcebook. Mind you, there is no way to do a direct 1-1 conversion between the D20 system and the FFG engine, I can use it as a rough baseline. So I compared their War Droid to the D20 YT-1300 and roughly gusitmated what it would be in EotE based on what our 1300 can do.

Not a perfect system, but it got me close enough to wing the rest. Take a peek and see what you guys think!

Rather than a vehicle, why not make it up as a mount using the rules from Stay on Target?

. . . . um, because I didn't think of that? Hey! It's a new book - it's not on my radar much! (:

I'll go read up tonight and see if it'll work!

Well, there's also two different Basilisk designs; the KOTOR 2 design, and the real one. :) I still think the KOTOR 2 one is sexy, though.

I'd suggest making the vast majority of it up as personal scale with perhaps a single weapon system on the planetary scale (like twin light blaster cannons and adding some negative trait like Slow-Firing 1). This way it can be used in personal-scale combats without totally dominating yet it can still damage lighter vehicles too.

I never played the KOTOR games, so I was only aware of the beast-shaped one with the rider on the back.

I would decide whether you want this to be a vehicle or a droid beast. In literature it comes across as more of a vehicle, but it does have qualities of a domesticated beast in that it works as a beast of burden or can brawl with its claws. As with most things Mandalorian, it is a walking weapons platform. Seems kind of ridiculous the amount of weapons they pack into it.

Personally I like the idea of a droid beast, but with weapons scaled down to personal. You can always use the starfighter version as a vehicle.

Cunning: 2

Willpower: 2

Presence: 2

Soak: 15

Wounds: 25

M/R Defense: 2/2

Abilities: Silhouette 2, Droid [does not need to breathe, eat, or drink, and can survive in vacuum and underwater; immune to poisons and toxins], Flyer [basilisk war droids can fly], Hover [may reduce speed to 0 and remain aloft], Beast machine [a rider may use his Piloting (planetary) or his Gunnery skills to control the Basilisk war droid as a mount].

Equipment: Heavy claws (Brawl; Damage 12; Critical 3; Range [Engaged]; Breach 1, Vicious 2), Shockwave generator rods (Gunnery; Damage 18; Critical 2; Range [Medium]; Breach 1, Slow-Firing 1, Vicious 3), Plasma missile launchers (Gunnery; Damage 16; Critical 3; Range [Medium]; Blast 14, Inaccurate 1, Limited Ammo 4, Linked 1, Pierce 2), Heavy repeating blasters (Gunnery; Damage 15; Critical 3; Range [Extreme]; Auto-Fire, Pierce 2, Vicious 1).

Now all that being said, I did load him to be a lethal war machine.

Looking over the beast rules in SoT like Happy suggested - yeah, I think that's the way to go. It's a beast. . . that just happens to be a robot. That can go into space.

Actually, I like the look of yours, MM. I'll put my brain to the task tomorrow night, but that probably looks about as good as anything I'll come up with!

Check out my POKEMANS! Sorry...had too

At GenCon the adventure they ran us through (Lost Legacies I think it was called) featured a Basalisk War Droid. We didn't allow it to get close enough to see what kind of stats it had or if it was firing vehicle scale weapons. But it played more like a droid than a vehicle. Granted, if it was a vehicle that means it will have armor and a Hull Trauma, and it's importan to note that if you want personal scale weapons to destroy it.

I think the closest analogue we have are walkers.

In the Force and Destiny Corerule Book quest, there is a damaged basilisk.

How would this version be changed based on damaged basilisk's stats ?
