Larry's an ace now

By Sternguard777, in X-Wing

I named my #3 academy Tie Fighter Larry. He just managed to become an ace (5 kills no deaths) How should I reward him?

Service to the Empire is it's own reward.

Send him home to his family so that he may live a long and happy life!

Just kidding, no life is happier than one involving blowing up rebel scum

You could decide Larry is a Black Squad pilot now.

Clearly he is eligible for promotion to The TIE Interceptor initiative.

Clearly Larry is now an Interceptor pilot. At 10 kills he gets his blood stripes, and at 20 he gets a Defender.

+1 PS

Clearly Larry is now an Interceptor pilot. At 10 kills he gets his blood stripes, and at 20 he gets a Defender.

And at 50 he gets that TIE Advanced from the Imperial Raider set.

Not being shot down by the enemy is its own reward.

After his second year of service, he gets to move over to fighter command, and out of fighter cockpits. If he wants to.

If you're gonna start a family, it's the safest path.

A paintjob~

A paintjob~

Dang, beat me to it.

Agreed. Give him a subtle little indication of his valor.

Yeah, like a top hat.

Of course you know hes going to get insta-killed now the next time you field him.

- Yes sir?

- According to your records, you have been stuck on 19 kills for about two years now...

- Errr... Well... Bad luck I guess, bad luck... sir!

Blood Stripes!

Add some kill marks on his ship

Very funny!!! But true!!!

Love the idea of having certain numbers/pilots/ships being special in this way. I might keep track in my next tournament and see who gets what.

I'd love a Defender!

Thinking about it further, I was wrong.

5 kills is an Ace, 10 is Double Ace and earns blood stripes. Surviving 20 missions in an Interceptor without dying earns you a Defender (it's not kill based).

Larry is an Ace. He should be bumped over to Interceptors, and earn blood stripes on his tenth kill. After his twentieth Interceptor mission (without dying), he should move over to a Defender.

Give him a medal and put him in a TIE Advanced with the x1 title and an Advanced Targeting Computer.

I like this, too. But I think Advanced should come before Defender =P

sadly, the chances of him living that long are just as slim in this game as they are in the fiction :)

By that progression there wouldn't be any interceptors without blood stripes. Shouldn't it be 10 kills in a fighter get you an interceptor, then 10 more kills flying the interceptor gets you the blood stripes?

So... only Interceptors get Blood Stripes?

From what I've been able to find online, the blood stripes were peculiar to the 181st Fighter Group and were awarded to Interceptor pilots who achieved 10 kills. I suppose the fame of the 181st might also spread the popularity of the blood stripes as well. They may or may not have been used on other fighter types. I think I have seen TIE Fighters with vertical red stripes but I don't know how cannon those are. Perhaps you can start a new tradition in YOUR unit.

Congrats. A lot of my toes are aces but I don't count the deaths. So. Really congrats.
