I have used the mangler today on 2 defenders running with Vader. I was not impressed. I thought the synergy with ATC would be a decisive edge, it was not. The 4 dice of the HLC is huge.

Mangler is more useful on the YT-2400 with its 2 die primary attack rather than on a 3 attack die ship because all the mangler brings is a crit and you lose your range 1 attack advantage. Though it might have more synergy with Kath or Ten Numb.

It's not ideal for 3 attack ships, but if you can't afford the HLC it's not that bad to still take. A guarunteed crit and a range 3 defensive bonus denial never hurts.

I suspect he meant the heavy crit output you get from combining them.

ATC is nice with Vessery in your list.

I like the mangler on ten because of the garunteed crit value it holds.
