People who take their Imperial-**** so seriously as to draw it into comparison with real-world politics disgust me.
Totally new to this game: Questions so basic you'll lose your mind!
What I was trying to get at (and got a bit side tracked so I apologize) is that we should leave real world politics out of Star Wars.
And besides, how do you think new rebels players are going to feel about posting on boards where someone, by proxy, tells them they are basically playing as ISIS? And no that's not a strawman, that is the comparison you yourself are making. AND that comment gets a bunch of likes. The whole "Rebels are the bad guys, Imperials are the good intergalactic peace-keepers" thing is funny for a while but there is a line.
Anyway, I'm done with this line of argument. Let's all just get back to discussing toy star fighters and flying casual.
Can't we all just... Get along? I mean, Even Wedge Antilles is Soontir Fel's brother-in-law.
On topic - one thing I've not seen mentioned here re: factions is that you can play against as Rebel vs Rebel or Empire vs. Empire, etc.... even in tournament play. You aren't forced into the thematic scheme of things in terms of your battles.
