Dust Off the Trench Run Scenario

By Hammer6, in X-Wing

So my gaming group has expressed interest in the trench run, and I'm feeling the itch to build a gaming table. I'm quite confident in my ability to create an engaging board, however the scenario has got me thinking...

There really isn't a shortage of suggested scenario rules, however the ones I've found seem to center around the "dogfight" point limit. I just feel like it should be larger in scale... 4x X-Wings taking a shot at the deathstar being defended by 8x Tie Fighters just doesn't feel right to me. Has anyone had experience with it at the epic point scales?

Also, has anyone tried it with the currently available ships? X's and Y's VS Ties and an Advance certainly excites me from a fan aspect, but it could be fun to play a little what if?

What do you all think? Do you have any resources you think might help me make this an awesome experience for my game group (rules and otherwise)?

Check out Dagobah Dave's Trench Run scenario, there is none better. None of the others I have seen are as simple/playable, yet capture that "edge of your seat", "race against the clock" feel of Dave's.

To make it more... epic, just increase the points/number of ships. Could even go with "historical" lists.

I was planning a convention game, where part of the game was the trench run and the other half was the back-up plan/diversionary raid on the super laser itself. Figure I'd need about 4 players per side.
