Horn build for my first store championship

By Jayheretic, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello - going to my first tournament next weekend - I'm hoping for some last minute pointers on my list building. I've been having a lot of success with a tooled out Corran Horn, but was having trouble deciding what to support with him. In the end I came up with this:

Corran Horn 46

Adv Sensors

R2D2

Engine

Blue Squad B-wing 27

Fire Control System

Ion Cannon

Blue Squad B-wing 27

Fire Control System

Ion Cannon

Total 100

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

I quite like using.

Y-wing Dutch + Ion cannon Turret

2x Bandit Squadron Z-95

With your corran build it gives you 2 points to play with, so VI on Corran to counter Phantoms, or even VI on Dutch (+ 1 point for the EPT Droid) to make dutch an 8 as well.

Thanks Kovu - in fact this is pretty much exactly one of the lists I was testing, and I liked it a lot - I ended up worrying that the YZZ combo had less survivability (may not be a word, lol) than 2 Bs - but I'll definitely play around with it again this week.

Well 2 B's have 8 hp each with 1 dice. 2 'z have 4 hp each and 2 dice, so it'd work out about the same - stats wise anyway, but as we know it doesn't always work that way on the table.

Dutch helps to add another thread with Ion + The Target lock economy.

Hey! Where's your tourney? I am going to my first next weekend and thought about a Corran Horn list too! Mine looks like:

Corran Horn: VI, R2D2

3x Prototype Pilot: Proton Rockets

I think you should drop the FCS and Ions and put a HLC on one B and VI on Corran and enjoy a 2 pt int. bid. At Range 1-2 with a B-wing I rather roll my attack dice and try to kill rather than slow down.

I'd probably swap advanced sensors for push the limit on corran. Those rounds after you double tap you're going to want to turtle and making sure you can get out of arc with a barrel roll or boost as well as ficusing/evading will be important

Corran Horn really excels with FCS VS advanced sensors. Aso, With the high amount of Predators out there, you might fair better with something other than blue squadron pilots in the championship meta.

I agree with Covu on the VI for Coran.

Here is a list my friend has used to some success, its very aggressive.

AXE List

Corran Horn

VI

FCS

R2-D2

42

Wedge Antilles

Predator

R2-Astromech

33

Jake Farrell

Chardaan Refit

Outmaneuver

25

Total-100

It can be kind of fragile, but if flown right it can mess up most anything, and its beating out most ships, including bringing anti-phantom stuff to the table.

Thanks for the advice

rryannn, its in Rugby, UK - I like your list but I have never had any luck with torps or missiles - they never seem to work for me

Draco - yeah I was running PTL, but I found I used it too much and became too predictable in Activation

Hetero - I like this list - aggressive is how I like to play because my green dice hate me! I can see it being fragile if youre in the wrong spot - but I like the way theres no obvious target choice for the opponent - they're all nasty. Is the R2 on Wedge to make him less predictable after K-turns? Also, I'm used to flying a flanker, loner ship (Corran) with a support formation (BB, AAA, ZZY, ZZZZ etc) but I'm guessing these 3 will all be flying solo - will take some getting used to but I think I'm gonna give it a go this week.
