What to paint for two players?

By MiniJunkie, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi folks,

I picked this up with the intention of probably just playing skirmishes with my 8 year old son (and his 6 year old brother if it's not too hard).

I painted up the storm troopers so far, and obviously I know most of the "bad guys" would be appropriate to paint first. But I'm wondering if there are "preferred" or best choices from the various hero figures to paint up first? Looking for an optimal painting order basically. Like "paint the Wookie first he's a must-take" or whatever :)

Regards

Jarrett

So far, from what I've heard, Luke Skywalker is amazing, Gideon Argus is very useful, and Jyn Odan has some cool utility as well. I'd start with those three.

For Imperials, make sure you get Darth Vader and the Imperial Officers. Between those and the stormtroopers, you'll have a powerful Imperial list.

Paint all the imperials first. Painted models roll better dice, that is a scientific fact.

Or, unless you plan on playing the rebels yourself, then i would paint those first, and lord over the imperials with your awesome paint jobs and scientifically proven improved dice rolls.

(Ahem)

Honestly, you should paint the models in the order with which you want to paint them. Find the model(s) that really talk to you and say "Paint me. Paint me! PAINT MEEEEEEE!!!!" and paint those up first. The other models will get jealous and want to be painted too.

For example, I started painting my troopers first, but before I finished them, those Royal Guard started asking to be painted, so I moved onto those.

To avoid the miniature gamers' common problem of "too many things at once" I recommend picking ONE squad to work on and finsh it before moving to others.

My progression went like this:

Vader

Probe Droids

Royal Guard

Stormtroopers

Imperial Officers

Nexu

E-Web Engineer

Trandoshan Hunters

Gaarkhan

Luke Skywalker

Fenn Signis

Gideon Argus

Mak Eskharey

Work in progress:

Diala Passil

Jyn Odan

AT-ST

But really get one model/squad at a time!

Get a quick win in with Gaakhan, dead easy to paint the wookie :D
