SITH

By theclash24, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

do you think FF has any plans on making a SITH book for the game? Maybe a separate core or expansion for FAD to add SITH as playable characters with structure, history, ideology and powers? I'd love to see it.

Id Be Surprised. It Hasn't Come.Out With A Jedi Book. What We Have Is The Force. IT Has Lightsabers Forms, And Force Rules, But It Isn't Specifically Jedi. So I Doubt It But With These Rules, You Can Make A Sith. You Can Make A.jedi. You Can Make A Fallanissi. You Can Make A Dark Sister. So I Doubt It, But I Think This Is A Smarter way

The ability to play bad guys - be it Empire or Sith or whatever - comes up every couple of months. The answer is always the same - who knows. I cant imagine that if they do anything like that, we'll see it any time soon, though. It's taken us a year and a half to get just the class books out for Edge, there's almost nothing for AoR and F&D isn't even out yet. It would be at least another year - minimum - before they have enough of the basics are out to do freaky stuff like that.

Since they've set themselves up for career books what we're likely to see short-term is stuff like the Agressor talent tree. Not explicitly Darkside, but kinda darksidey.

It's reasonable to assume that a book that has darksidey talent trees will probably also have darksidey tools and fluff... But I'm not holding my breath for a "Sith Sourcebook."

If we do see it though, I'm more expecting something like "A-hole's Team: A sourcebook for Sith, Imperials, and other Jerks of the galaxy" You know, something with a little for everyone that spends more time talking about running a villain campaign in general. Which would still be awesome...

As Has Been Said, We Really Can't Give An Answer Yet, But I Don't Want This To Be A complete Downer Of A Thread, So.Here. Watch This And Laugh http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M60zW_Mfm58

Actually with the Morality mechanic you can chose to either play a darkside or lightside force user.

Age of Rebellion works very well for Age of the Empire as well - just a couple of very minor tweaks (like changing insight rebellion to instill loyalty) and you have your crack ISB team. Of course, non-political Eote characters can be non-political the other way just as easily.

So in a lot of cases, while an Imperial Source Book kind of thing might be nice, we don't really need a specialized book the way Black Crusade did for the 40k line.

And honestly, if you need a Sourcebook, the Imperial Sourcebook is 6 bucks and the Dark Side Sourcebook is 20 bucks. That's more than enough material for a creative GM to build what he needs.

Granted it's tucked away in the Force chapter of the EotE and AoR core rulebooks, but FFG has said that the intent when writing those books is that the PCs are generally meant to be the good guys. That doesn't mean they have to noble defenders of all that is good and true (i.e. Captain America, especially in the MCU), but that the PCs are generally decent folks, much like the crew of the Serenity (even Jayne isn't completely amoral).

That said, it's possible that once all three core rulebooks are published, FFG might consider doing a "bad guy" sourcebook that covers things like playing as Imperials (though the AoR core rulebook can cover that already with very little tweaking needed in terms of mechanics) and adherents of strictly dark side Force traditions like the Sith or the Dathomir Nightsisters or even just members of the Inquisitorius. I think their 3rd Edition version of the Warhammer Fantasy RPG had a supplement that allowed the PCs to be Chaos worshippers, and I'm fairly sure the WH40K line had a similar book to enable the PCs to play the true "bad guys" of the setting.

There's also the Force Unleashed Campaign Guide for Saga Edition, which can be found pretty cheap and is a pretty valuable resource on the Empire during the Dark Times in between RotS and ANH.

I don't think there needs to be a sith book as sith are not sangificantly different from Jedi in this system. You simply pick force powers and adopt attertudes that cater to one idelogy or another.

Want to be a darkside character? Use your powers often for selfish reasons, draw on the darkside for power all the time and generally embrace an efficent methodlogy. Keep in mind that sith do what they do because it is extremely efficent to rule over people, so pick a career that would benifit from that cut-throat methodology. The typical sith vader and Palp, but even Darkside users (it's importent to state that sith refers to an exact culture.) have a vareity of routes to take, which range from crimelords to inquistors. As long as they gain power by twisting peoples arms in both an idelogical and a physical method; your pretty darkside to me.

You don't necessarily have to be clumsy in violence; just adopting a methodlogy that adopts enpowerment to yourself over others is all you need. Being a Sith or a Darkside user is simply an idelodgy in this system and in star wars at large (I mean, nothing Vader did was anything a Jedi couldn't do. He simply used grip and likely sense a lot to bully those under his command for maximun efficency. Ozzel buggered up over Hoth? Kill him and replace him with someone more efficent.) while your steriotypical Jedi will look to largely benifit others though their actions and enpower others. Your actions as a player will speak more volumes then any sith book ever will.
