New player: what should I buy next?

By Cmacaulay, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

I got the core set for Christmas, and I am really interested in getting into competitive play. So far I really like Jinteki and Anarch, so what would be the best thing(s) for me to buy next?

2nd core set, for sure. What Lies Ahead, Opening Moves, Creation & Control, Honor & Profit, Order & Chaos. After that it boils down to what deck you want to build.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into those. Also: where would be the best place for me to start learning more about competitive play and the meta?

Stimhack.com has some great strategy and meta analysis articles. BoardGameGeek.com and /r/Netrunner are probably the biggest community hubs for discussion.

Awesome, thanks for all the help you guys.

While you're building your collection, it's a good idea to just make paper proxies using images off of CardgameDB or NetrunnerDB. That way you can learn the game a lot faster than a limited card pool will allow, and once you have a deck you are happy with, then you know exactly what packs to buy. There's no shame in netdecking in order to learn major archetypes and try new things.

Just buy everything! This is coming from a brand new player hahaha.

I had a bunch of store credit that I used though. If possible, try to trade in some old game stuff to Coolstuff and get everything if possible.

I'm only missing What Lies Ahead. Hoping that it's reprint gets released soon.

This is probably the best card game I've ever played. It's so good.

If you like jenteki then the Honor and Profit deluxe set is the way to go as it gives you a lot of good Jenteki cards.

For the Anarchs Order and Chaos is coming out so you can count on some good anarch cards in that set.

Still a second core set is always a good option.

Not sure if it just became available or not but saw you were waiting for what Lies Ahead reprint. It's on Amazon for 14.00.

I've had the core set now for a year or so and only played twice. I really want to start getting into it now though. So thanks all for the input.
