Large, Medium and Small ships

By MaverickNZ, in Star Wars: Armada

Just noticed from the Star Destroyer article today, Admiral Motti

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/star-wars-armada/news/wave1/admiral-motti.png

The card talks about Large, Medium and Small ships.

Question for anyone who has seen them in person at Gencon etc - are the Rebel Corvette and Nebulon B and Gladiator on the same size base, with the Victory/Assault Frigate MKII on a larger one?

Cause if that is the case and the corvette/neb/gladiator are "small" ships, and the Victory/Assault Frigate MKII are "medium" ships then that leaves a very big hint as to what is coming up sometime soon... ;)

Well, we have 3 different bases so far from the pictures. The big one that the Vic and Assault frigate are on, a smaller one that the Glad (compare the size of the "stand" part that holds the model up to the base) is on and then one with an ordinary X-wing type of ship mounting post for the CR-90 and Neb-B. That's just from the pictures of course as I haven't seen them "in-the-plastic" so to speak.

My guess is that the size class is dependent on the size of the base. The CR90, Neb B, and GSD all have the same size base--probably small. The AF MkII and VSD both have the same size base--probably medium. I'm guessing that the ISD and the Mon Cals will be large.

Having a second look at the pictures in the Expand Your Fleet article I am revising my previous guess and now agreeing with Chemnitz.

Squadrons ate squadrons and won't have anything to do with anything that references ships. Any card referring to ships would ignore squadrons.

Rowdy, no-one mentioned fighter squadrons. My reference to the X-wing post was just that, a comparison between the piece of plastic that holds ships up in the two games.

But you are quite right in that Motti shouldn't add hits to fighter squadrons.

"we'll have to destroy them ship to ship"

vader might disagree with you about the term "ship" not referring to starfighters... ha.

Yep, thats what I am hoping :)

Makes sense, the Large base ships in X-Wing didn't come until Wave 2. The ISD is probably going to be in Wave 2. It really does need to be larger than a VSD to make it distinct (since they look pretty much identical apart from size).

The "wings" of the Vic and the bridge differences are also good indicators, though size is definitely the easiest way to tell them apart at a glance!

Bump for original thread :)

Bump for original thread :)

Silly Maverick, would you have two threads for the same topic at the top of the list at once?

Nope, but its better to stick with one original one then start a new one, as often key ideas, questions and answers have already been discussed rather then starting all over again and again :P
