Way of the Sarlacc

By eldidi, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So yesterday we ran into a discussion about how Way of the Sarlacc works.

The text reads: "For each hostile figure adjacent to you, perform 1 attack with a (melee) weapon targeting that figure"

Does this mean you can attack the same figure multiple times? Or just each figure once?

Targeting *that* figure.

In others words no, one attack per target.

That's the way our group agreed it plays also. We've nicknamed it, "whirlwind." It's pretty sweet for taking out a full card of storm troopers if they are grouped to close.

Is that a Saga Edition RPG reference?

Yea, it was pretty devasting. Especially when Diala has her saber and the spawn point is in the middle of an ambush.

Combine it with her +1Speed and ability to move through figures/difficult terrain then she can really get into the mix of thing.

I do like her Weapon throw ability though as it adds a blue die and gives a bonus surge ability.

Diala is my Favourite Rebel

I have a question: What happens when Diala plays "The Way Of Sarlacc" card usin a weapon that has "reach"?

When you use melee weapon, RRG says that you have to be adjacent to a targeted figure in order to attack, except when you have "reach". Can this be aplied on "The Way Of Sarlacc"? On my opinion it should be, because, if you have "reach" not only adjacent figures are eligible targets but also the ones 1 space away...

No, reach allows you to make a regular melee attack at range 2 instead of being adjacent, but Sarlacc is not a regular melee attack: it is a special ability which specifically states "each figure adjacent to you" and adjacent is adjacent, not range 2. If it was intended to work with Reach that way, it would say something like "make an attack against each figure which is a valid target for a melee attack".

EDIT: Remember, though, that if your weapon has Cleave, then you can still invoke Reach to assign the Cleave damage to something at range 2 for each of your Sarlacc attacks.
