Nearyn's house rules ideas #1 - Backstabbing
When creeping up on a character who is unaware of your pressence, you may opt to slice his throat at your GM's discretion.
Optional rule: When trying to cut the throat of an unaware character the victim may make an agility roll (-30, - dodge/acrobatics applies) to knock your arm aside or slip out of the pinch.
In combat you may attack an enemy tied up in melee or unaware of you in the back. If struck in the back with a bladed weapon you are paralyzed for 1 round.
An attacker may declare he's trying to backstab the opponent. If the attack deals 7 or more damage after TB and AB calculation the attacker drives the blade through to the hilt and the victim is paralyzed for 1d5 rounds. The attacker may opt to leave the blade in his opponent in which case the opponent is paralyzed until the blade is removed.
If the attacker declares he backstabs and makes a called shot, with the final damage being 7 or higher apply the following effects:
Head: Toughness test (-30). Succes indicates the blade grazes the skull, but does not penetrate. apply normal damage. Failure results in death.
Back: Target is Paralyzed for 1d5 rounds. The attacker may leave the blade to paralyze the opponent until the blade is removed. An opponent paralyzed in this fashion may still speak but it requires a toughness test (-10)
Arms: Target cannot use targeted arm for 1d5 rounds. The attacker may leave the blade to keep the arm paralyzed until the blade is removed. If the target wishes to remove the blade himself he may do so, but it requires a toughness test (-10) in order for him to pull the blade free. If failed the blade remains stuck and the target may opt to remove it again in two rounds when the pain is less intense.
Legs: Target cannot targeted leg for 1d5 rounds. The attacker may leave the blade to keep the leg paralyzed until the balde is removed. If the target wishes to remove the blade himself he may do so, but it requires a toughness test (-10) in order for him to pull the blade free. If failed the blade remains stuck and the target may opt to remove it again in two rounds when the pain is less intense. A character with a leg stunned in this fashion takes a -20 on all agility based skill tests and if the other leg is paralyzed in the same fashion, the target drops prone and is at -20 to parry and -30 to dodge. Acrobatics is out of the question.
Everyone may attempt to backstab an opponent.
Please by all means. Tell me what your think of this rule.
