Rexler + 2 Guards begs to have VI on the Guards so everybody's an 8 and he can clean up with his ability after they strip tokens/shields. Proton Rockets are also kind of unimpressive on a Defender anyway. You're paying 3 points for an extra attack die, once.
Oh yeah. I always get excited about the Prockets but then I forget that I shouldn't put them on ships with 3 attack lol.
Would putting VI on the guards be worth losing their PTL?
Tough call on that. I really do like the idea of all the tokens getting stripped.
Maybe swap one with phenir with vi to get a shot in before brath and use the royal guard as cleanup after the others?

You mean 2 extra attack dice right?
Proton rockets can go up to a maximum of 5 atk.
They are a base of 2+the Defenders 3 agility=5atk
Drop the PtL and replace with VI for the reasons listed, then drop the Targetting Computer and Stealth and use Hull and Shield Upgrades. Five HP Int's firing at PS8 are mean and don't need to worry about getting stressed from other causes.
I'd also drop the Prockets and give Rexler Predator.
All in all a nasty PS8 list.

Prockets are Range 1 only. At range one a Defender has 4 dice.

I think your original list, but replacing Proton Rockets with Predator would be best.
Who cares if you get to use Braths ability or not on the opening pass of shooting. It is more likely that a lot of shielded targets won't even get down to hull until the second round of shooting anyways.
I think you will get a lot more out of PTL on the Squints instead of VI. Only other change I might consider is moving to Hull instead of SD, only because I like hull on squints that aren't Soontir.
I mean, PS 8 mAkes sense for beating Dash, but I think you'll find not being able to Turltle up or use both boost AND barrel roll to be much more problematic.
I'd also consider Turr + VI + Hull though in place of one Royal Guard. You still get at least 2 actions with that ship, after all, and PS 9 will be useful.
As it stands i'm thinking of:
Vessery + 3 points of something, leaning towards Ruthlessness
Royal Guard + Title + PTL + Targeting Computer + Shield Upgrade x2
vessery will probably just be able to put out damage a lot more consistently than Rexler.
Ruthlessness or maybe an Ion Cannon? Messing with people's manouvrability complements arc-dodgers like interceptors well.
Ion Canon might work. Ruthlessness seems fun, but I'm hesitant since my Guards might be swooping in as close as they can. I'd hate to hurt those fragile guys.
