Traumas on the Character sheet

By Gaiduku, in Zombie Apocalypse

Hi everyone!

Just reading through the rules and got up to Traumas. I get how it all works - remove stress and then get a descriptive trauma along with some severity depending on how many rows of stress you removed. However I'm a little confused with the character sheet here. Rather than simply having a box for severity 1, 2 and 3 it has the letters 1W, 1M and 1D.....

I have literally no idea what this is referring to and it seems to have no relationship to the trauma rules.

Also whilst on the subject of traumas is it possible to remove some but not all stress when getting traumas or is it more all or nothing.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's referring to how long it takes for them to heal?

D = Day, W = Week, M = Month

So yeah, it's basically the same as "1, 2, 3" in terms of severity, but instead of numbering it in that way they're listed instead via how long it takes to heal over time since a Severity 3 Trauma takes a (M)onth to heal.

This.

Just as a reminder, each "heal" also only steps it down one level as well.

A Level 3 Trauma would take a month to heal enough to be reduced to a Level 2 Trauma, which in turn takes a week to heal enough to be a Level 1 Trauma, which can finally be removed after one more day.

Ahhh of course! I knew it would be something simple like that. Feel like a bit of an idiot now :P

Page 33 has severity's. As for converting into traumas the book says it is a way to clear all your stress in 1 category and convert it into 1 trauma. But only after they have had 5 minutes or more to evaluate themselves. I think the idea is your player would take the "worst" of it as trauma. Maybe your player jumped out of a building suffering a couple of strain and then was shot for 3 more. You get to a place and are able to evaluate your damage and take the 5 strain and convert it into a gun shot trauma severity 2 but it was only a flesh wound so it won't take as long to heal as a severity 3 one. Now it is plausible that the player could have also suffered a sprain or twisted ankle for the jump but the gun shot is worse of it and probably their main concern.

If they don't convert the stress often they run the risk of turning it into something major. The time frame is for treatment(recovery time/healing) of the trauma.

They also have to succeed a defensive test for that category and if they succeed the treatment was successful and the severity drops one until it is gone.
