Individual releases of Scum and Villany Z-95, Firespray, HWK

By FirstEarth, in X-Wing

You could just send ffg customer service an email and they will probably send you the dials/generic cards for free.

You say using the existing dials would be fine at Store Championships, but not at Nationals or Worlds? Who is gonna turn up at Worlds who doesn't already have three of every single expansion ever?

Ebay sellers will be breaking up the pack to make more cash anyway. Pick it up from them if paying over-the-odds for a single ship bothers you.

Technically speaking no event, by the rules, would allow the wrong faction dials as they are not defined as legal components. His point is just that the lower the tier of event the less likely that will be enforced. I wouldn't assume that be the case at all SCs I'm sure some will opt to look the other way. Where as that is less likely at a Regional and not going to happen at anything FFG runs

Having thought about this for awhile, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if MrkvChain is right on the money. A "Wave 6.5" of extant ships for scum has no real downside for FFG: it solves the issues brought up in this thread, encourages more people into scum, takes a minimal investment of capital or development time in their part, and can come out relatively quickly, with cards and pilots to rebalance any initial issues that players might come across with the scum ships.

After all, the very first expansions they put out in wave 1 did exactly that for the X Wing and TIE fighter, despite the fact that they were already available in the core set.

If I were them I'd be releasing scum paint jobs for all the duplicates, and including an extra scum dial in each one - buy one Y Wing, get a dial to convert your existing one - if they're really generous, they might even offer a spare rebel dial as well.

Of course, none of this does me any good personally - I already have 3 Y Wings and 6 Z-95s. But for the majority of people who weren't as silly as me, this would be a very useful product, and given how little it would cost FFG, I really wouldn't be at all surprised to see it in the near future.

I think you are under estimating the expense that comes with what is essentially diversifying packaging.

Having two SKUs for what amounts the same product requires more inventory management at all steps of the supply chain. Distributors and stores do not like dealing with mutiple similar SKUs.

The main issue likely preventing this will be the fact that FFG is not likely to risk being stuck with product. If they release singles of dual boxed ships they likely will not move their stock of dual boxed ships as a result.

For the same reason we haven't and likely won't see individual cards, card packs, or separate packing of other bundled ships; we likely won't see it for Scum. We may see it as easy, since hey the ship is already lying around, but it is not a small undertaking in actuality nor is it without risk.

Like you, I don't believe in a pay-to-win game, or for this to be a rich-man's game. But the way people are carrying on, it's like this is a poll tax or some other civil rights violation.

DAT!

And... THIS.

Instead of "I'm glad you dead!", say "I'm glad your broke and can't buy all the new toys!!!"

:D:lol:^_^

Means there will be more for us!

;)

I have 4 Z's and 4 y's so there is a good chance I will try to fix the Y wing with the bent tail thing. Or whatever, someday I. Any get a wild hair up my backside and fly 5 y's.

And who ever does they deserves to be shot for taking advantage of their over the top awesome customer service!!

Yup... with a .50 caliber Whammer!

Wow.

Stay classy.

I feel the same way about it. I want S&V alternate paint schemes for HWK-290 and Firespray-31... I can't paint anymore, I have extremely BAD hands now. So I will pay for it- and hiring someone to slap some blue pigment on a Slave I and call it "Jango's", will NOT cut it for me. (Another reason I LOVE this game- no painting.)

There are some new MOST WANTED expansion packs "parted out" on Ebay.

Use the Dials that come with the already existing pack?

That would be fine if it wasnt for the tournament rules stating that you must use the scum dial. I can imagine store championships letting it fly but if you get to a national event or worlds I reckon they'd enforce it. Also you're ignoring the cases where there are two unique pilots on reverse sides of the same ship token.

YOU NEED TO READ THE RULES!!!! The Rules explicitly state you can use the dials that come with the ship and do not need matching dials.

Oh, and needing to buy two Most Wanted if you want to run 3 of the same generic Scum is no different than needing to buy two Imperial Aces if you want to fly three Royal Guard Interceptors.

... wait a second...

DARN YOU NECROPOSTING! And this is from someone who isn't automatically opposed to it.

Perhaps FFG could do a Scum expansion release for the HWK or Firespray but I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe the S&V aces pack will have a Firespray and a HWK-290.

Although I'd like to see, I don't know, some Mandalorians flying StarVipers (it is a MandalMotors craft).

ETA: My basis for thinking it might be the Firespray and HWK-290 is that we have alternate paint models for S&V of the two other ships they share with other factions, the Z-95 and the Y-wing. There's no special reason for them to do alternate paints of the Firespray and the HWK - nor any reason for them to release individual S&V painted Z-95s and Y-wings. But if they did the Firespray and HWK in an Aces pack....

Of course, it's probably more likely that we'll get a Scyk/StarViper Aces pack for S&V, as the Firespray is a large-base ship. Perhaps a non-Black Suns paint StarViper and a Black Suns-paint Scyk. And doing a Kath repaint Firespray with a Binayre pirate repaint Z-95 would make more sense if they're going to do a large base/small base set.

ANYHUE.

Alternate paint S&V aces pack with a Firespray and a HWK-290. That's what I'm pulling for.

Some of the Scum ships will almost certainly be released as a Scum Aces pack. Which ships will be in that are anyone's guess. Are there any other ships in the game which don't have their own individual expansion pack? Maybe that answers the question.

Didn't they update the rules on that? IIRC the version I last dowloaded off the FFG site said you could use any faction dials (just the card and token needs to be scum)

They did, but this thread is six months old (read: from before the update).

Individual packs with new ace pilots, anyone else?

Not likely. Everything they release is something they didn't release, if that makes sense. I think it's more likely they'll continue to do what they've done for seven waves and make new ships than rerelease a rerelease.

That said, we may yet see an aces pack down the line. The Scyk could do with one; we'll see what else down the line needs a hand too. A repainted HWK would be lovely on general principles, for starters.

Though they won't likely give me the repaint I really want; a shiny N'dru. ;)

Yes, yes they did update the rules. But they didn't change it until after this post you are commenting on which is almost 6 months old.

My bad. Saw the thread on first page and missed the actual date of the post.

Actually it's my bad. When I read this earlier I thought you were the one that necro'd the thread. See, I can't pay close enough attention either, lol

While this *is* an old thread i think people have missed the most likely reason you wont see the most wanted ships as individuals.

And that is simply 'rack space'.

Bricks and Mortar gaming stores have hundreds of games competing for shelf space and a limited amount of it in most stores.

Stocking two types of Z95 and two types of Y wing just eats up space. I'd imagine that the most wanted pack was there to essentially put four new ships 'on the table' while only taking up the space of a 'large ship' box.

Most stores are at some point going to have to chose what they stock as the game expands, especially if new huge ships come along. While Xwing is important to us you're shooting yourself in the foot as a store owner if you dedicate too much space and attention to one system as if that system goes out of vogue or stops being supported you've lost all your board games customers, magic customers etc

Gadge bet me to it.

I will also add that the hawk and Y-wing were two of the slowest selling ships.

Most people would agree that having more than one rebel hawk in a squad is silly and the Y-wing is not to far behind it with one having the one useful roll, ion turret platform.

Yes it would be nice to see them get a repaint but that means re-packaging them and all of that eats up time that would be better spent making the next wave.

I don't really see an issue with buying 2 most wanted boxes, especially if one has been playing awhile and collected a decent amount of previous releases. It gives a good variety for scum builds for only 80 bucks. I would always love to see multiple paint schemes for all ships tho.

I would love to see discounted MW II box with alternate paint for the HWK and Firespray (maybe with some Scyk and Starviper fixes mixed in) but it's not gonna happen. And there's many more ships that haven't even had one release that I would much rather see (TIE Avenger, Gunboat, Troop transports, pretty much anything from TIE fighter. The T-wing, R-41 Starchaser and V-wing should have been in scum much sooner than any of those Galaxy ships)

The Alpha-3 Nimbus-class "V-Wing" starfighter?
