Ah, NY representation should still be fine --b/w NYC and Long Island, there should be at least 7 of us. I'm just bummed that two of NYC's most stalwart players --Sithlord and GreyjoyChris-- won't be able to make it (GJChris was good to go until a flight of his got rescheduled to Saturday afternoon that, together with the later start time, effectively eliminates him).

Seven is a healthy number.

Just to echo Finite, DC metro opens at 7 am on the weekends, so it's most likely some of us can't get to the bus before 7:30/8:00 am. I think a start time of 1 pm sounds good, as long as it's slightly flexible just in case the bus we take hits traffic. (Going back on the bus is a lot easier. Buses run late, and the metro goes until 3 am on Saturday--not that I want to take it that late though.)

as of right now, the crew we're bringing up consists only of you, me, corey, and LUke, so i was just thinking that you and luke could stay at my place the night before so as to get downtown more easily (and to play all night before bed). i have a couch bed, and my own bed, i just need to get an air mattress

A Time of Trials is now available for purchase from FFG's online store, so consider it valid for the Kingsmoot. gran_risa.gif

and i'm still working on getting in contact with this trophy making dude through our contact with him in the DC meta

Sounds good...I was sort of wondering about the logistics of that morning, and I could use some last minute fine-tuning.

I haven't heard back from FFG about getting hi-res files of the house icons and I suspect they won't be made available to us (which I can understand). If you decide to go ahead with the trophy/ies and want to use the Kingsmoot graphic, I've rearranged it to be more symmetrical and vertical (let me know and I can try to save it in a more appropriate format and/or resolution):

can we lose the 'arches' it looks like the gateway arch in st. louis but cut off....maybe its just me. almost Mcdonalds-y too...

I kinda like htem. They evoke Naaga's Ribs - which is where the Kingsmoot was held in AFfC, IIRC.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner (that was quick). But if the consensus is that they are not aesthetically pleasing, I'll rework them or just remove them.

I knew what they were supposed to be. Maybe if they looks more dessicated and rotten and less symetrical it would help.

They're stylized representations, man. Stylized! lengua.gif I'll play with them some and if I can't shake that McD's vibe from them, I may just remove them.

I heard back from FFG. They won't be sending us image files, but we're welcome to scan/use any AGoT images we have for a trophy. They are also sending some items as prize support and are printing up a banner that'll say Kingsmoot in the East. I think all of that is pretty nice, especially for an "unofficial" event.

I think things have pretty much stablized for the event details, so I've updated the information on www.agotny.net if anyone is looking for the current info.

More rib-like, less Golden Arches-like. (McRib. Mmmm... happy.gif):

And boneless:

I like the first one with the bones. Though I think the bones look just fine as is, you could give them a more aged look if you took some chunks/bites out of them...like they've been battered, splintered, or chewed on. In general, really nice looking logo!

By the way, this is a big IF, but IF the Greyjoy expansion were to come out that week, I think it would be cool if we give the winner of the tourney an expansion. (A Greyjoy deck as prize support for winning the Kingsmoot--there is something kind of Nedly about that.)

yup, or even just chopped the top off of one of the points (can you tell i don't like symmetric :P). A huge improvement and can be left alone (despite critiques.)

****...I wish.

However, I will be in NYC in four short months and will expect an even bigger tourney :)

Good luck everyone!

Alright, Lars, here you go: symmetrical lengths/angles *and* a broken off tip. As for adding texture/"aging", I didn't try because (a) that's hard lengua.gif, and (b) I don't think it would translate well to etched crystal (which is my primary objective, assuming Finite has any luck and desire to use it) --same reason I've been doing these in black-and-white.

after chopping off the tip (~molzatov!) did you raise the back right rib? having it and the broken point on the same hieght level overbalances the image to the right. try having the back ribs lower then th 'T' on both sides (or did you not like the blank space after chopping off the tip?).

Typo in my post, that should have said asymmetrical. Yes, I did alter the length and angle of the back, right rib to further add the the asymmetry (I also lengthed the front right rib some, but then lopped off the tip --its as though the carcass settled very slightly rolled to its side). You're a hard man to please, Lars gui%C3%B1o.gif; just wait until you get my bill. lengua.gif

heh, if i had any kind of graphic design skills i'd give it a go myself. I'm like the director, i can't act or write, but i'm going to tell you how to do it :P

note, i didn't say i didn't like the asymetry of the back ribs, i just think the right side is too even now :)

For the record, I like both the new and old versions of the bones. If people are still complaining, you could add a crack or two to the bones to make them look even more aged, but again, I don't think you need to. (I'm just trying to help with the brainstorming.)

In any case, this is going to be a really (amazingly) great logo for a really fun event. Just curious, any idea what the turnout will be like? (I think there will be 3-4 from DC and ~7 from NYC...any others?)

Twn2dn, thanks. I've decided to stop cluttering this thread with my "creative" meanderings, but did make some final tweaks after Lars's last suggestions and then rendered the logo in color, which can now be seen on the Events page at www.agotny.net if interested. I haven't heard if Finite had any luck tracking down the trophy shop, so I'm not sure what his plans are right now.

As for head count, here's what I've pieced together:

you (DC) have 3-4

DE (Lars et al) 4, possibly 5

NYC ~7

Bloodycelt from Eastern Mass

schrecklich (CT) may come

twn2dn and i are having a little trouble getting our guy in the DC meta to actually put us in contact with the trophy shop people... working on that

assuming those totals hold up thats a minimum of 16, yay!

Just to be clear, we will have good prize support. The question right now is weather we will have the lasered glass prizes that we were hoping to have in time. Even without FFG prize support, we should have decent prizes regardless of whether or not we can get the glass in time. (I also talked with Finite about an idea for a really cool/expensive grand prize, but I'm not sure about the logistics of bringing it along to NYC, so I'm waiting to see.)

Around 16 would be a good number, though it looks like there are still some players in nearby metas that we could wrap in. What are all those East Coast guys doing and why aren't they playing in one of the bigger tournaments of the year?!

so the DC crew is debating car vs bus. bus is going to cost each of the 4 of us coming up (including LUke) about 20 dollars each way => 160 total. is there any chance we'd be able to fit into a parking garage near the store? the timing of the buses from DC to NYC in the morning is tricky due to the metro opening so late (at 7).
