Scum ships - Any worth loading with upgrades?

By S4tosh1, in X-Wing

Hi guys :) I started looking at the scum ships only a few days ago, and i liked them a lot. I started experimenting with list building, yet i'm having big problems in finding something that might work.
I'm used and i really like having fewer ships with many upgrades, rather than swarms, but i can't seem to make this work with scum ships. Either i don't have enough points or i have enough just for a filler ship that really has no point of being with other ships.

Since, outside of aggressors, i only saw swarm ideas for scum, is that really the way to go? Or i'm just not capable of finding a good combination of upgrades?

M3-A interceptor if the dial is any good can be a great cannon platform. Looking at Laetin-ashera or cheapest generic mostly.

The new Firesprays will get loaded up

Here's a few Ideas, I like the Guri & Zs one best but it might be more ships than you want. I tried Guri's squad on vassal and it was pretty good, and I tried a couple variations of the Kavil/Palob, but not this one.

3 StarVipers 99pts

45 - Xizor (PTL, Virago, Autothrusters, Hot Shot Blaster, Advanced Sensors, Flechette Torpedoes)

27 - Black Sun Enforcer (Autothrusters)

27 - Black Sun Enforcer (Autothrusters)

HWK / Y-Wing / M3-A 100pts

33 - Palob Godalhi (Opportunist, Outlaw Tech, Blaster Turret, Hull)

36 - Kavil (PTL, Blaster Turret, Unhinged Astromech, Engine)

31 - Laetin A'shera (Title, HLC, Shield)

StarViper / 4x Z95

40 - Guri (PTL, Titile, Advanced Sensors, Autothrusters, Inertial Dampeners)

60 - 4x Black Sun Soldier (Feedback Array)

Thanks Radarman for the suggestions :D
I like the idea of 3 starvipers but after playing with phantoms and interceptors i find it hard to arc dodge with ps1... Or maybe i shouldn't think of playing the Starviper like an interceptor?

The 2nd list on a first sight appealed to me a lot, but then i looked better at it and saw that while being good in offense, it lacks really much in defense. Two of the ships are agi 1, the HWK especially i see going down really fast with just 1 shield... How should this 2 ships hold their own while under fire? Am i missing something?

The 3rd list... probably it's strong, but 1 big and 4 small ships i can try but i'm not sure i will like :P

I think of the StarViper as being somewhere between a B-wing & and Interceptor. And for list 2, the HWK has 2 Agility dice, not 1, so it's a little bit tougher, and with the hull upgrade it has 5 hull 1 shield. You could trade Opportunist & Outlaw Tech for Recon Spec. & the Title for more survivability. After playing with the Y & HWK my main issue is their mobility, (I mainly play imperials), which is why I gave Kavil the Unhinged Astro instead of the R4 Agromech.

What's a typical list that you'd use?

At the moment i'm playing a lot Whisper + Chiraneau, but i also play Whisper + Interceptors, Defender + 2 Advanced (only with friends using the Raider upgrades), Defender + Phantom...
I'm used to a lot of mobility and arc dodging; both the Y and the HWK can't do that properly, at least the HWK for sure can't with the dial it has, and it's 1 out of 3 ships that list has. The Y i don't know, normally it's not that mobile but with unhinged and the EU probably it will be more so. But still 1 of 3 ships is going to be shot a lot and can't really defend that much... But still i like the offensive capabilities of that list, i'll probably try it anyway when S&V gets released :)
As for the StarViper i really have to see that in an actual game, i like the ship and i like the possibilities for upgrades, but i yet have to understand how it should be flown

Yeah, I have the same issues with the HWK & Y, I haven't really had much success with them yet, they're really slow and clunky. S&V's mobility will be in the Starvipers and IG-2000, and maybe the Scyk.

Maybe something like :
IG-88B ( PTL, FCS, HLC, Autoblasters, Proximity Mines, Inertial Dampeners, Autothrusters)
Guri (VI, Virago, Advanced Sensors, Inertial Dampeners, Autothrusters)
97 pt.
Not sure on VI on Guri, maybe it's better PTL but i think that being able to move after swarms, might be better than doing 2 actions, but i may be wrong.
Should be a heavy hitter list, with loads of mobility for arc dodge, but... Will a 2 ship list with these 2 work or it will get melted? Guess only actually playing it will answer this

Scum and Villany will kinda kit out like a Rebel/Empire hybrid..... your agile ships will be Star Vipers, Aggressors , M3-A's, and Z's oh and Firesprays. Slow ships being really just thr Y's but you can kit them out for better movement as well. To me S&V kinda feel like working with Rebel builds. You want to add just a pinch of upgrades to make an already good ship better. So far im impressed with every ship in the Scum and Villany lineup and they will be my default faction. But this is just my opinion of the faction. They are going to be a fun faction. And a faction I hope to see alot of underhanded trickery from.

Have you considered Boba Fett? If your running 2 ships you might want something a bit more tanky like the Firespray to go with the Aggressor. Plus his ability is awesome.

I was thinking of having my tank ability in the mobility the StarViper has, avoiding shots rather than tanking them. And the Firespray costs 39 base, which would require me to downgrade the aggressor a lot to fit some upgrades on it; yet it has 10 total hit points, might be worth it
