Transferring Characters

By StrikerB13, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So my friends and I have been playing EotE for a while now and most of our characters are pretty flushed out and 'leveled up' much to our GM's consternation. Anyway both myself and another in our group had our characters learn that they were force sensitive, my character has pretty much finished the force exile specialization tree and reached a force rating of 2 and has both a partially completed Force Move tree, and has started on Sense.

With Force and Destiny coming out, our GM has given the green light to use various items from the beta as well as specializations and force moves, once we aquire an actual mean to in game explain it.

Anyway my question is what would be the best way play our characters with the new system, since we still have our obligations from EotE to deal with in addition to our new abilities should we have a morality and change our motivation to fit with FaD?

Suggestions?

You should be able to treat the rules in F&D Beta as just another sourcebook for EotE.

If you want any of the new Specializations, you would buy those just like any other non-career specialization out of any other book.

If you want any of the new powers, you’d buy those with your GM’s approval, just like the ones you’ve already bought — and that approval might require GM assistance, in the form a quest to go find a mentor or a holocron that can teach you those powers or skills.

The basic game system in F&D is exactly the same as EotE, the big differences are in the setting, the types of species that would normally be expected to be seen, etc….

Make sure you get the latest Beta update PDF from the support web site, because a number of things have changed since the printing. The latest beta update includes suggestions on how to make F&D play better with EotE and AoR, among other things.

Oh, and use the search field at the top of the web page on this forum, because this is becoming a FAQ and there are lots of other good threads on this subject. ;)

To add to the above. If you have not bought either Force sensitive exile or emergent specialization You need those first. As in Force and destiny the Force rating comes from the career not the specialization.

Yeah, Edge, Age and FaD are all the same game and system, so it's really up to you. You can buy an additional spec to either double up on your characters existing abilities, or purchase a spec on the other end of things to make your character more flexible.

Whether you get to change your Obligation and Motivations is totally up to you and the GM. There's no huge benefit to taking Morality over Obligation. Morality gives different bonuses depending on how big a jerk you are. Obligation allows you to get out of a jam because you happen to know a guy.

Totally up to you and what you want to do with the character.

For force users Morality is an important limit. as it adds an additional check on bad behavior, But it is not very harsh. They leave that up to the GM to do narratively

IM Not Sure Why You Would Need To Choose Obligation Over Morality, Or Visa Versa. While The Mechanics Might Be Different, They Aren't Exclusive. Take For Instance If I Am An Eote Character Who Becomes Entangled With The Rebellion. Could I NotHelp Blow Up A Death Star, Evacuate And Fight On Hoth, And Still Owe Money To A Hutt, aWho Would Send Bounty Hunters After Me?While Another Mechanic It Does Not Need To Change The Game
