"The" most survivable ship.

So, I was a bit surprised when I saw Major Juggler throw out the numbers for the IG-2000.

More to the point, how its 8 hp behind 3 agility takes the most shots to kill out of any non-upgraded ship.

Now, how can we crank this to 11?

I believe MajorJuggler's numbers factor its actions in too. As far as I know it possesses the Evade action.

Fly defensively, don't joust with it. Utilize pincers and bait&switch strategies. Usually if a ship is already durable, you want to upgrade it to increase its offense. Defense should be used as a means of attack, not just for the sake of being defensive. "Cleverness has never been associated with long delays".

Yep. I recall spectating a match where the Aggressor was in a R1 staredown with loaded, Stay On Target Keyan. IG88 was loaded with a Proximity Mine and Hot Shot Blaster. After shooting and dials, had he simply pulled a 2-turn next move, he could have dropped his Proximity Mine and probably finished Keyan with the Hot Shot. Instead, he tried to pull the fancy S-loop, crashed into Keyan, stressed himself out, and lost his action modifiers. Keyan got to torch him with four dice instead.

That sounds like a really good anti-Phantom loadout. Although getting into a R1 staredown with a ship as slow and tough as a B-Wing is pretty much the opposite of what I was talking about.

I wanted to compare the durability numbers on the Tie Interceptor, and... I don't see them. I do often look right past things, though. Can someone either point them out to me, or confirm that they're not there? :)

For durability I don't consider the evade action. It is a fairly "simple" assumption of 50% chance of having a focus on defense, and being shot at by a battery of a bunch of different stuff that is meta dependant.

Evade is only considered as part of the total cost prediction. Of course, I can always recalculate how durable a ship is with X more shields, to quantify how effective that is for getting X free evades. I did this with Ewing + R2-D2 for regenerating shields.

They are the same as a TIE Fighter because I consider only the base stat line.

Plus there is a use for rope-a-dope strategy. It may not suit everyone, but no single style ever does.

I'm not sure mass murder-suicides really qualify as "clever" by the prevailing definition.

You really don't need to crank it up outside of abusing its obscene mobility and the C variant in double aggressor lists

Imo, the innate durability just means you don't have to invest as much in making the ship survivable. In short, that gives you more reign to make it more killy and therefore far more durable. After all, how much damage can a dead enemy do? Maximum of 1, currently

Excepted when there is a timer giving you the win if you are still alive. The shorter this timer is, the more being defensive become a good strategy. Sadly.

IG-88 with Auto-Thrusters will get a free evade for everyone that shoots at it. So, if a Falcon with gunner/Luke does it's thing, it still gets another free evade. Someone else shoots at it? Free evade. Mix that in with the free evade from the boost action and the fact that you roll 3 green dice and I think the IG-88 is better.

IG-88C (the one with free evade for a boost) w/ Auto Thrusters, Sensor Jammer, and Lone Wolf would be nasty.

Why is everyone so surprised of that? It has 3 agility, Autothrusters, Evade. We have the same on A-Wings and Interceptors but they have half or less than half the HP of the Aggressor. There is not yet anything comparable in game. It's awesome, nothing less!

I know green dicevare fickle, but statistically you will still roll a lot more evades with 3 dice than with one...

If you add to this the insane arc dodging ability of the ship you get the most durable ship in the game. I would perhaps argue that the best defense stays not getting shot at all so Advanced sensors might be preferable to Sensor jammer.

When i saw the Pilot skills and saw IG-88C i knew that ship and any IG that flies with it would be extremely tough to kill.

Exactly. I knew it was one of the most survivable bit i can't find the calculations either!

The reason why I initially mentionned Soontir was not to put him in the race for the most survivable ship, but rather to illustrate another point. I know that when I fly him, if I ever get in a situation where I mess up and an opponent gets a free shot at range 1 while out of arc (and can therefore spend tokens with impunity), I start sweating bullets as the attack dice are rolled, no matter how many tokens or modifications I have...

In the case of an IG-2000, getting that range 1 shot will be a piece of cake for a lot of pilots; Soontir is my favorite, but he's not the only threat. Whisper with gunner, Corran with fire control system, etc.

I understand probabilities and how much they matter when facing a turret ship, but the IG-2000 is a different beast altogether that is affected by positionning a heck of a lot more than a Falcon. I would venture to say that the ship "needs" to have so many defensive options merely to stay alive at a pilot skill rating of 6, but time will tell :)
