EPIC Imperial Assault

Really hoping the devs / designers read this forum...

So after having a thought cross my mind whilst reading the '5 hero' thread, I started wondering about having more than the 2-5 players that the game suggests... My mind immediately went to 40K and thinking of the big multi-player battles where individual players bring individual pieces but play on teams.

Could this type of thing be done for IA? If you had two games - or perhaps an expansion somewhere down the line that would incorporate this idea - you could possibly expand the game to 2 - 10 players! Here's my initial thinking, hear me out...

  • First, we'd need some official (read: tested and balanced) "Epic" - for lack of a better word - missions, possibly with special rules specifically for the format.
  • Duplicating deployment cards - and heroes - really wouldn't matter. As you're likely to have the double the (heroes / villains), you can support having double the (villains / heroes). Things like stickers, tokens etc. can be used to assist in differentiating between Diala 1 / Diala 2 or Stormtrooper squad 1 / 2 where figures are unpainted or otherwise indistinguishable.
  • MAP PIECES, DICE, ETC. (This one is especially important for me as I'm that person who likes to take really good care of my stuff and hate when my components get mixed up with some who doesn't take the same care as I do) In the rules, we can have "Box 1 tiles needed: <##a>, <##a, <##b>, etc. Box 2 tiles: <##a>, <##b>, etc." This way, My pieces never get mixed up because this side of the map is made up from my pieces (Box 2, let's say) and that side of the map made up for yours, Box 1) The maps can - and should - connect, but it's specific to which pieces belong to whom. For instance... In the mission booklet, Box 1 tiles could have an orange outline around them in the setup example, Box 2 could be green.

Just had the thought off the top of my head and thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone else was thinking the same type of idea. Sure makes a lot more sense over trying to adjust the game to five or six heroes when the balance isn't designed for it.
