Falcon Point

By scotherns, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Up to now I have been treating this like a souped up aquatic train station (that can also move other investigators).

Upon closer reading, it states that you use its ability during 'movement' and immediately have an encounter. Is this in addition to the normal Arkham Encounter you will get in the next phase? Do you have to deal with monsters at the destination, or can you ignore them as in the usual 'move to a location and have an encounter' encounters?

Do you have to evade monsters before using this ability? Even if you are moving someone else?

I think it's been clarified that you just get one encounter in Arkham Encounters.

You'd have to fight any monster on the new location, since you'd get there during movement.

The investigator you brought there would definitely have to deal with any monsters. I think you could use the power before dealing with the monsters, though I think you would have to deal with the monsters before leaving the location if you used the power on yourself.

How many movement points does it cost, and does the moved investigator (if not the guy at falcon point) pay the MP cost?

As far as I couod see there was no MP cost (unlike trains, buses). But I might have missed something.

No movement cost, I think

I mentioned this in another thread:

I guess that the phrase "and have an encounter there" is from an earlier version where the ability was activated during the Encounter phase, like other location special abilities. Then they changed it to movement phase, but forgot to remove the part about immediately having an encounter there.

...but just to be sure: Am I correct that you cannot return on your own from Devil's Reef / that other location with the unspeakable name? I guess that either someone else has to activate the Falcon point ability to bring you back, or you have to hope for an encounter that moves you somewhere else (I had such an encounter, so at least one does exist).

It doesn't cost any movement points to use the location power (though, of course, if it's used to move you then you can't move any further that turn)

You can also get back by losing all your stamina or sanity... (but otherwise, yes, you need to either get lucky or have someone retrieve you)

Thanks for the confirmation!

Well, I think if you want to lose stamina or sanity, you need to be lucky, too. If there is a monster, you probably want to defeat it before it walks into the vortex, and if there is none you probably have to hope for an encounter that hurts you or drains your sanity (unless you have the flute, plague of locusts or something like that). ^^

Of the handful of times I've succumbed to the Innsmouth Look, I was most often at Devil's Reef or Y'ha-nthlei.
