A Different take on Fel/Yorr/Phantom

By sc077y, in X-Wing Squad Lists

so here is my different take, inspired by a post on the other boards. Fat Han is very prevalent in my area, so i was wondering if outmaneuver to stop 3P0 from negating the extra hit a turn was any good, as putting damage on them with both 3P0 and R2 is really tough to do.

I just cant manage to sand paper away all the damage mitigation, so i figured i would try something like this and see what happens.

Not sure it's a good answer, as basically Echo has to survive Han's shooting first, and thats always scary as he would have to live 3 heavily modified dice vs his 2 evade if he de-cloaks, so im not sure what that answer is there, but I'm pretty sure stygium particle accelerator isnt a part of that plan, and thinking maybe we keep him behind the shuttle, cloaked until its his time to strike, then he jumps out, shoots, recloaks, and he only gets shot once at hopefully medium range?

Im not sure, looking forward to testing the list, thats for certain. I will admit, its going to be weird not playing whisper with VI on her to make sure i always get to do what i want with little reprisal, so i think i will have to actually play the game and not rely on a mechanic to save me.

Damnit FFG, how dare you make me play the game you made instead of just doing is most broken!!!!

Anyways, here is the list:

=============== Yorr, Echo, Fel ===============

Slightly different take on Phantom/Interceptor/Lambda

100 points Pilots ------

“Echo” (40) TIE Phantom (30), Rebel Captive (3), Outmaneuver (3), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Soontir Fel (35) TIE Interceptor (27), Royal Guard TIE (0), Push the Limit (3),

Autothrusters (2), Stealth Device (3)

Captain Yorr (25) Lambda-Class Shuttle (24), Tactical Jammer (1)

Why Yorr? His ability doesn't synergize well with Fel

I was thinking the same thing as the nationals champion was, use Yorr to pull the stress off of soontir Fel and allow him to do his thing without worrying about stress. Ive played Yorr/Fel several times and its strong, just not sure on echo over whisper, but do you have an idea of something else to try?

I don't understand why you have Outmaneuver on Echo. Sure, he can't use C3PO on Echo's attack... But he can for sure use him on Yorr's or Fel's attack, so all it does is reduce the 3/8 chance of an evade - doesn't seem that useful to me.

But if Yorr takes the stress of Fel than Fel won't get to use his pilot ability.

If, through his pilot ability, Captain Yorr intercepts a stress token that is part of the cost of triggering an ability on another ship (such as Soontir Fel or Opportunist), that ability’s effect does not resolve.
If Captain Yorr intercepts a stress token that was the result of an ability (such as Push the Limit), that ability resolves, then Yorr receives the stress token.

I think the idea is for Yorr to take the extra stress that comes from something like Rebel Captive or R3-A2 or pulling a K-Turn with Fel.

A lot of how well this will work is going to come down to how good you are at being able to have Echo dance around with Yorr between her and whatever scary thing she's hiding from.

Yeah, thats my understanding of it. So Soontir Fel uses push the limits, the ability resolves, sends the stress to Yorr, Soontir gets a focus for recieving the stress from push the limits, which was then sent to yorr, and soontir then focuses or evades. am i playing that wrong?

Yes. Yorr intercepts the stress and Fel never gets it. Because he doesn't get a stress, his pilot ability doesn't trigger and he doesn't get a focus.

The keyword here is "instead".

good to know. thanks for the correction. my opponents will appreciate it, lol.

thank you again. with that understanding, do we go with an OMG at that point?
