I am sure this is not proper, but wanted to check:

My example uses Jake Farrell who after performing a focus action or is assigned a focus token can perform a free boost or barrel roll action.

So if Jake flies with Garven Dreis (who after spending a focus token can place that token on any other friendly ship at range 1-2), can Jake move again?

Example: Garven moves (PS5) and then focuses, and then Jake (PS7) moves and then either focused, target locks, boosts or evades. During combat, Jake goes before Garven, and Jake fires. Then Garven fires, spends his focus and gives it to Jake, who can now boost or barrel roll, even though his turn is over?

Is this correct? Technically, Jake can perform the free action after receiving the focus....

Yep, that works. Keep in mind that he still cannot perform the same action twice in the round (so if he's already boosted, he can't boost again).
