Combining the EotE and FoD

By LORDs_diakonos, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I have all the source books and material from Edge of the Empire.

In addition I have the beta book and beginners box for Age of Rebellion.

My question is while I know the games are similar and have read some of the posts here about the differences in character creation and the duty/obligation thing, do any of FFG's books talk about combining the games?

You can freely combine all of them with no problem mate :D

I'm using rules from all the books and I have no problems and also my gaming experience has improved a lot.

Take care!

I do understand that the rules are similar and I guess I can just provide Han Solo style characters who have obligations and eventually Duty but My question is are there rules in any of the books for combining the games?

If the answer is no then I guess my followup question is how exactly have other GMs worked this?

There are a few "adds" on books, I readed them. But I can't look for them actually or tell you book or page, sorry.

Any nice people or penguin willing to help? XD

AoR actually tells how to mix with EotE (it was also in one of the later Beta updates for AoR), and FaD's last beta update tells how to integrate all the systems.

The main thing it details is how to handle Obligation/Duty/(and for FaD) Morality in group settings where there may be a mix; which itself boils down to a player being able to take one or multiple, but can only change one to get benefits (with some extra restrictions on FaD characters, where bonuses are capped at 10xp and 2,500 credits).

I have a Beta for Force and Destiny. Maybe I don't have the latest. I didn't read through it yet. Any idea where it is in the book. I don't have in front of me right now but will go get it in a bit here. I just got it from MiniMarket but not sure if it is the latest or not

Beta updates are published digitally. This allows people testing to all have access to updated material regardless of when they buy the book, allows updates to be pushed out as soon as their made, and prevents having to make too many copies of the book with minor changes in-between.

Here's Force and Destiny's last Update: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/StarWarsRPG/force-and-destiny/support/Beta%20Errata%2010.pdf

And here's Age of Rebellion's: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/StarWarsRPG/age-of-rebellion/beta/Week%205_Low%20Res.pdf

The Newest F&D Errata has a section that explains combing Obligation, Morality, and Duty.

The bits about combining Duty/Obligation/Morality are the only mechanical rules you need to combine the system. The rest is narrative.

"Onslaught at Arda I" - the first published adventure for Age of Rebellion goes into how you can run the game for a group of scofflaws rather than rebellious soldiers. But again, it's all story and plot. Nothing mechanical needs to change.

Have you ever heard of the A Team?

Former soldiers wanted for various crimes they didn't commit went underground and if you're lucky you could hire the A team!

In this case a group of Jedi Younglings and Padawans escaped Order 66 and retrained to better hide during those Dark Times emerging as a team with rather specialised skills and needing a way to survive they undertook occasional missions somewhere between that light and dark they were always told to be careful of...

You should do fine, your players on the other hand may have problems understanding exactly what this entails which is why I suggested the above example.

Good luck in any case!

My players have the following: a thieving scoundrel, a hot shot smuggler, a Jedi exile, a Doctor Scholar, a Rebel Saboteur, and a Slicer Spy.

We started out with EotE but have added AoR and F&D into the existing characters and adding new ones. The list above involves content from all three - the hot shot smuggler combines AoR and EotE as example.
