FFG, put this Rebel character into the game

But seriously FFG, include this character asap.

What an amazing living tribute, I would buy one extra of this guy, in whatever form they put him in the game. Wow. Touching.

(And before anyone gives me crap about being sentimental, I'm a parent, and believe, it changes your take on things like this :) )

I think he would need to be in imperial assault as he's not a pilot but it would be a nice thing to do.

Make him a Crew card and give him a stat that automatically removes a stress token from any ship at range 1.

You forgot to say please.

If they want to include pilots, there's still a bunch of Rogue Squadron pilots that could/should enter the game.

Take the time to read the whole wiki page on this and you'll have a better understanding as to why we need to add Shawn Valdez.

If not as a pilot, then certainly let's add him as a crew upgrade. Maybe a special card for the store championship packages?

His is a sad story, as there have been so many. But he doesn't need to be added anymore than R2-KT needs to be added. They might be nice touches to add to this game as well, but to start demanding?

Besides, the best place to have added him has come and gone. They could've added him as a crewmember to the Transport with his astromech as crew and it would've made sense. Now, I think, it'd be too late and too much of a sympathy ploy.

I was around when this happened in the CCG and it was a touching and fitting tribute and a great thing for Decipher to do. But I am not seeing the relevance to X-wing. Let's just let his tribute continue to exist as it did for something that it was relevant for, his love for the Star Wars CCG.

If you really want some kind of tribute in the game why not find someone out there whose life was changed by X-wing, rather than a long dead game that no longer has any relevance. I am sure there are plenty of deserving individuals out there.

FFG probably doesn't like selling promo product, but it would be cool if they made this a crew card and sent some of the proceeds towards leukemia research/hospital care.

I read the article, and I agree that it would be a fitting tribute.

i think you could safely add both. An opportunity is out there, may be with another expansion. But i do see your point, you can't go adding everything like that, otherwise the game will turn into some odd form of vigil, and loose the light hearted and fun game experience that draws us to it.

Still, as a parent, some things just touch your heart. My 3 year old is healthy, and other than throwing a temper tantrum every now and then, a very happy little girl with hopefully a bright future. I don't know how i would live, let alone survive something like that, and when you read about R2-KT or Shawn, it just makes you want to add them or immortalize them in some form, because children aren't supposed to go before their parents.

Im not going to lie, i didn't know about R2-KT until Dagonet listed it, and reading the story made me cry. I know its not exactly relevant, and really, would add little value, but sometimes even a mention in the flavor text of a generic is good enough. Its a legacy to leave behind, and its cool to see that reflected. Thats my take on it anyway.

Like the female bothan and her teenager human lover...on second no.

Just an idea: FFG could make cards like this available through a mail-in offer. It would be something we could finally use those proofs of purchase toward!

But I also see your point too ID X T and Dagonet. I would note however that Decipher did add a lot to the mythos through its game, stuff that persists even if the company itself seems to have gone under. Shawn Valdez is a part of Star Wars as a character as much as anything is. He had been a nameless character in TESB until he was given an identity by Decipher, with Lucasfilm's blessing. But I could see how the argument for/against using him now could go either way.

Although, it would be a pretty neat gesture if FFG did cards for Shawn Valdez and R2-KT. I mean, hey: who wouldn't want a cute pink astromech?

R2-KT is a Clone Wars era astromech and Valdez is a ground trooper. You could fit them in at a stretch maybe but they're not really appropriate and not what you'd call far up the scale on character priority.

The characters are nice tributes but the creation of those characters are the tributes. One of them is in the Clone Wars series and the other is in The Empire Strikes Back itself. Going out of your way to make cards for those two characters in a kinda niche miniatures game pales in comparision somewhat. It wouldn't really do much. When you bear in mind that the vast majority of players won't get the reference, when you consider the relatively small size of X-wing's card pool and take note that the family are very unlikely to see it making X-wing cards isn't going to help much and X-wing isn't really relevant to either person.

Well, a special christmas package with proceeds going towards a charity, with characters such as Shawn Valdez and R2-KT would be a very nice gesture and I would certainly buy it, even if the characters were just flavour text and a duplicate ability.

But would it have been so hard to start out saying "FFG, could you please add this character for such and such reason?". Instead of "add this ASAP" "This needs to be added" "FFG, put this character into the game". A little more asking, a little less demanding.

even if the characters were just flavour text and a duplicate ability.

They'd have to be duplicates of generics.

If you really care about it why not make the cards in Strange Eons?

R2-KT is a Clone Wars era astromech

So is R2-D2 :P.

If you're getting at that it's possible for an astromech to survive the Clone Wars and appear in the GCW then yes, I can't argue with that. The page actually does say that the astromech survived into the GCW. On the Imperial side.

you have my vote!

I think I still have a mint copy of this card somewhere in my parents attic. Never knew that was why he was named what he was.
