"Advanced sensors" and "Push the limit" - Stress, and simultanious attack

By Funk Fu master, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi all,

Questions came up regarding a recent game.

1. I was flying B-Wings (Keyan and Ibitsam, the stress monkeys) with Advanced Sensors and Push the Limit.

If I use AS to perform action prior to moving, then PTL to perform a second action and receive a stress, can I then perform a red manouvre? or will the stress token I just received from PTL prevent that.

2. two ships of same PS attack each other. initiative attacks first, deals injured pilot to the defender, cancelling his pilot ability and any elite pilot talents. Does the defender attack back using those skills first or are they lost before they attack

In answer to your first question, from page 17 of the rulebook:

If a ship already has a stress token assigned to it and it reveals a red maneuver during the Activation phase, the opposing player chooses any non-red maneuver on that ship’s dial for the ship to execute.

So if you're planning on using AS and PtL, don't plan a red maneuver. It's going to bite you.

And to the second question, that's the advantage of initiative. If the first shooter deals a damage card, that damage card comes into effect immediately and may hamper the second shooter's attack.

1. Yes, you can do it... and suffer all the penalties associated for revealing a red maneuver while stressed. So your opponent will get to select your maneuver.

2. No. Even Simultaneous Fire isn't really simultaneous, and any damage or critical effects dealt will be in full effect by the time the non-initiative ship attacks.

1. If you reveal a dial with a red maneuver while having a stress token, your opponent gets to pick any legal move from your dial for you. Often times this may take out off of the board or into asteroids.

2. The crits happen as soon as the cards are resolved. The ship that attacks second would not get the benefit of his EPT or Pilot skills.

1. If a ship already has a stress token assigned to it and it reveals a red maneuver during the Activation phase, the opposing player chooses any non-red maneuver on that ship's dial for the ship to execute (p. 17 from the rulebook). So because you took a stress token from Push The Limit, you had one when your maneuver was revealed, and your opponent would get to choose another maneuver.

2. Ships with a pilot skill value equal to the active ship's pilot skill value have the opportunity to attack before being destroyed. If such a ship would be destroyed, it simply retains its Damage cards without being removed from the play area. It may perform an attack as normal during the Combat phase, although any faceup Damage cards just dealt to it may affect this attack (p. 16 from the rulebook). Therefore Injured Pilot would affect the defender when he performs his attack.
