Couple of quick questions : movement and environment cards

By Ezuna, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

When a monster spawns out of a gate during the mythos phase, does it remain stationary during that turn and not move until the following turn or does it move immediately in the very next movement phase?

My understanding is as soon as the very next movement phase appears then it moves.

Also environment cards - can there be more than one in play at once so long as they don't conflict? For instance could you have one in play that is game-wide e.g. all gates cost 2 clues less to close, and also one that is street-specific at once or only ever ONE environment card in play at once?

Cheers :)

Monsters spawn in the first step of the Mythos Phase and move in the third step. This means that all monsters with matching symbols move during the Mythos Phase, including those spawned during the same turn (see pages 9-10 in the rulebook).

Only investigators move during the Movement Phase (pages 6-7).

Page 12: "The first player places the [new environment] card face up next to the game board, discarding any previous Environment mythos card face down to the bottom of the mythos deck. This means that only one Environment mythos card can be in play at a time." What effects they have doesn't matter: only one environment at a time.

Awesome thanks! More fog rolls away :)

Also, remember that the special text of the Mythos card is resolved as the last thing during the Mythos phase; this means that, if you are resolving a new Environment card, for example, and you have one already in play, the special text of the Environment card in play is in vigour until you read the one for the new Environment. Example: you have in play an Environment not allowing Flying monster to move. The new card you're resolving will have some Flyers moving. They don't move since the movement pattern on the Mythos card are resolved before the special text, and the current special text forbids Flyers to move

(hope this has some sort of sense)

Ezuna,

At the heart of Borealian's and Julia's posts is to remember to "Follow the Phases" in the game...as a long-time player, I would say that nearly 90% of the inquiries are resolved by simply following the phases.

Cheers,

Joe
