Boardgame/LCG Gencon Event?

By Kennon, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Did anyone else notice this ?

How in the world is this going to work? Will it be something I want to play in? Any chance we could get a little more official FFG information?

*edit*

Also, does it annoy anyone else that even with less events this year that the CoC and AGoT championsips overlap? I would have really loved the chance to get in on the Cthulhu tournament this year, but it and the Melee start at the same time. :(

If we aren't registered we don't get the event page. Can you tell us what it is?

Sounds like Erwo's event he hosted a Kublacon a few years back...

Man - THAT sounds like a lot of fun!

This does sound interesting. Deathjester, do you remember how the one at Kubla went?

I'd love to have a two-headed variant for this game as well, maybe where each team needed 20 power total to win and couldn't play the same house card. I think that could be a lot of fun.

Erwo's game involved moving around a map of Westeros with your compatriots (teams of players had one person acting as King (or Prince) during the War of the Five Kings the other two as their bannermen) capturing cards with special effects and territory. When two armies faced of in the same territory, the decks were broken out and the winner took the territory (the number of forces entering the territory influenced the card game in some fashion). If the king's forces were wiped out one of his Bannermen could declare himself king and the House continued to fight or they could swear fealty to another side and their armies and held territories went with them. As players were wiped out they became "NPC's" operating Wilding and Cirlce of Spy Decks wrecking havoc without conquering territory. Pretty brilliant.

It was a lot of fun, combining Diplomacy, Risk, and Thrones CCG all together.

I should also say in interest of full disclosure, I won the event without losing a single battle... or to be more accurate with having to fight a single battle. And yes I was playing the part of Doran, controlling Martell's forces.

Ahhh yes!! The victory you weasled away from us by running around Westeros, taking up territories and turncoats, while our noble forces were locked in mathlete's web of spies. I remember that. We lost, but crushed many an army that day.

Yes, like Robb you won every battle, only to lose the war. cool.gif
