Mixed Aggressor builds?

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

A lot of the talk so far has looked at the Aggressor within the scope of the IG-2000 title. It makes sense, as the title is awesome, but you're also boxing yourself into a two-ship build with a single firing arc. The Scum represent so much more than that, like dirty tricks and cheating for a higher purpose.

For those who may be considering using only one IG-88 in a 100-point list, which model are you looking at? Will you go for a FCS 88B variant, with double HLC attacks? Will you go for the C model for Boosting shenanigans? Will you go for the slippery D version? Do you hate useful pilot abilities, and thus plan to use the A variant? ;)

As for wingmen, would you go for a swarm of Black Sun Enforcers? A Kath Scarlet teamup to augment IG-88's single firing arc? Maybe work some Ion turrets in there, or an HWK to force opponents to shoot after IG-88's PS6?

Going to do some testing with various IGs replacing one Firespray of my 2FS builds, probbly pairing one with Boba most of the time.

It seems like having Boba wade in and then running the IG as a skirmisher might play well to their strengths.

Also considering Guri builds with massed defensive upgrades, since the IGs are PS6 Bodyguard should work fantastically.

all i want to say is 4 ig-2000 epic build!!!(plus other ships of course)

But as for your question my favorite ig-2000 is ig-88c with that free evade, and then maybe a z mini swarm or somthing

I think it has merit just because of the Phantom. 2 IG2000s might have some trouble, but a fair number of other counters exist in the Scum toolbox. There's a boatload of small turrets that can help a centerpiece Aggressor defend against Phantoms. There's the HWK pilot that drops PS. There's a VI Boba that can trump Whisper's PS. All could be good.

Just think two agressors Four for epic play , on the hunt, able to mirror each others abilities. this thing is like TIE Interceptor or Defender on steroids. It may not be a be all end all ship but it is definitly a new predator and it wants blood.

Each has it place depending on what you are up against and with all of them costing the same it is easy to modify your squadron.

  • A model is probibly best against Tie Swarms. As one shotting them is not too much of a trouble. With 2 Aggressors getting to recover 2 shields a turn should be a benefit.
  • B model is basically a gunner ability. Since the Aggressor is the only large ship that has no crew slots this is almost a necessity to compete with the turrets out there.
  • C model is great for action economy. Pair this with PTL and you got some good combinations. Only thing is that you have to be able to plan your boosts. If no boost then no extra evade token.
  • D model is just an Echo/Lore version for the S-loop. It makes S-loops harder to block and keeps ships from attempting to clear your firing arc. Only downside is that there are no green turns only banks so it is easier to get back on your opponents tail and clear stress with the regular S-loop.

I don't know. Two naked IG-2000s is 72 points. That leaves 28 points, you could get a third ship, or even a couple of Z's or scyks.

I would take IG-2000 whateverletter has the cannon double tap with advanced sensors (and a cannon, obv) into a single Aggressor squad.

It has (imo) the most efficient mix of mobility and accuracy when its working without any of its buddies/clones. Essentially having gunner is, imo, essential when you can pull off those hilarious red manuevers + pre-manuever boost. Having to sacrifice accuracy for the ability to red maneuver is much tougher to swallow when you need to be able to peg phantoms and the like.

what I'd run it with is a whole other story (translation: I have no idea)

The single Aggressor will also be competing for my interests with the Starviper, though

Hard to choose, all those abilities sound so nice, and will depends on the roll I want it to fill. IG-88C seems like the safest bet for survival, but IG-88D+Inertial Dampeners+Advanced Sensor+Autothruster+Veteran Instinct or Outmaneuver possible shenanigans keep calling me...

As for teammates:

-With Boba Fett for the Bounty Hunter duo that I wanted to do since wave 2

-With 2 Heavy Scyk with HLC and giving I-88 a HLC too for some 4 dice madness

-With 2 Starviper with Autothruster to make turret ship pilots cry

-With a mini swarm of Z-95 because a mini swarm is always a good choice

-With a Y-Wing to control the board and guarantee IG to almost always have shot.

-With a HWK just to screw with my opponent.

So many possibilities!

IG88A could work, but you need some High PS heavy hitters to soften the target first which basically means either Boba/Kath or Xizor, it also means wanting to take some damage before you actually kill a ship so facing high PS ships might help too.

Say you get shot by Whisper/Han/Admiral Chippy and now you just nail their TIE/Z-95 escort and get your shield back

I think it is important to note that it isn't a double tap. It is a built in gunner.

B would be my first choice, even though C is my favourite for 'teaming up'. That being said, any of them except A has some viability on their own in the meta IMO.

I try yesterday 1 IG (PtL, Advanced sensor, Mangler and Autothruster), Kavil (R4, Blaster turret) and Cartel scyk (Mangler cannon - use Tie fighter dial ;) ) and i only must learn fly IG :P Additional i see 1 problem: skill rating. U move before most of enemy ship. So enemy can barrel roll/boost and go outside his firing arc...
