You can always just take Evade as your action if you want it. 2 actions are good, too, and are still better than 1 action. In fact, if you use his card text, 2 of your 3 actions have to be the same, Boost/evade, and you choose the next one. I don't really see this as a huge problem, however. You still have great action economy, and he will have little issue clearing the stress from Push. In fact, with Push and Adv Sensors, he can do three actions before his maneuver, reveal one of his many greens, and fly away with no penalty.

Much like Jake Farrell is allowed to boost+focus+barrel roll then get the stress, 88C will most likely be able to always get that evade if it boosts.

There's a stack now.

Aye... You can boost as your free action off of PTL, do your free evade action from his card text, and then complete the stress from PTL.

Also, since he's preforming an action (not gaining a token), you can't use evade as your other action

Oh, this is definitely going to take an FAQ entry, there's at least three ways I can think of offhand to resolve that interaction.

• Critted loses both, uncritted keeps own.
• Critted loses both, uncritted loses none.
• Critted loses own, uncritted loses none.
• Critted loses own, uncritted keeps own.

For the first, assume both abilities are lumped, crit ignores them, critted has no ability to pass.

Second, crit "ignores your" pilot ability, meaning critted ship can't USE it, but it's still printed so uncritted gets it.

Third assumes "your pilot ability", ability from title is technically not "your" ability.

Fourth assumes critted text is not passed, but non-"own" ability is passed to critted.

I would say the IG-88 in question would have his special ability "off-line" at that point. The card says "All players must ignore..." so that would mean the owning player as well.

I would interpret this as the critted IG loses its ability, but still shares the other IG's ability. And the non-critted IG only gets its own ability.

So in other words, both IGs become identical ships (ability wise).

With PtL involved it's not that important anyway as you can only PtL into one of your action bar actions and with Boost, free Evade blocking regular Evade you only have Focus or TL left over.

Timing (and nesting) becomes relevant when you use EI.

With EI instead of PtL you get access to Expert Handling, Squad Leader, Daredevil, Marksmanship, Expose, and Prox Mines.

Using both EI and PtL however, in combination with Prox Mines will allow you to be a bit nasty, when properly nested.

Focus

EI

-> Prox Mines

PtL

-> Boost

-> Evade

-> stress PtL

-> Stress EI

But that's a lot of points for a one shot.

In the example from the FAQ PTL is nested inside of Expert Handling. This is the opposite of what is being discussed in this thread. In the example from this thread, PTL is what would finish resolving after the Free Evade action that triggers off of the Boost and interrupts the resolution of PTL is completed.

It seems I fail to understand how the Free Evade action interrupts the resolution of PTL.

Here is how i'm interpreting it, When you push the limit and declare the boost as your free action, before you completely resolve this action you receive a stress. IG-88 uses "After" as a headline, where Push the limit is during the boost action.

Focus

PTL triggers

Boost

Boost finishes

two events now: pilot ability and PTL final resolving

You handle pilot ability first

Evade

PTL finally resolves giving you the stress.

Focus

PTL triggers

Boost

Boost finishes

Guess I was looking to much into the "After" Header. (You know cause Push the limit doesn't use "After" in it's text).
