Would you be ok with more FFG Original characters?

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

As far as I know, FFG made up "Whisper" and "Echo" without using any source material, and we all know they created the Imperial Raider brand new, what about other pilots?

What if they decided they wanted some new pilots for Rebel Y-Wings but couldn't find any good source material to go off of, for example.

They made up really cool characters for the Imperial Assault game, would you be ok with more original characters in X-Wing?

I'd be all for it, more, approved by LFL Star Wars is always good! Even when it's bad!

I'm fine with it in the LCG, I will be fine with it in this game.

I think everyone would be okay with FFG making up new pilots when existing pilots don't exist. The real question becomes - would you rather they put Keyan Farlander in a Y wing (he was the one member of Gold Squadron to survive the Battle of Yavin), or make up a new pilot that previously didn't exist?

I'm fine with it.

Absolutely, afterall really it's just the EU, and fleshing out characters like Howlrunner, Echo, Whisper etc can only lead to good things.

Edit: yes I know that Howlie isn't FFG original, but i hope to see them all in more material and gain more.... character as time goes on.

Fine with me; we NEED some new Y-wing pilots.

In regard to pilots we need:

High skill EPT generics - just about all ships.

2 extra named pilots for: y-wings, defenders, phantoms, Bombers, and Z-95s.

Why not both!

Make a Keyan Y-Wing card! A Tycho X-Wing Card etc.

But more originals as well.

I am fine with new pilots as lone they do not eclipes the original characters.

Based on how they have done it in the past I'm cool with it. The Phantom pilots work well... and the original Imperial Raider, looks just absolutely breathtaking, so yeah, they are batting 1000 right now with the originals.

And a Corran X-wing, a Luke E-wing, a Luke Y-wing, etc

I welcome it.

Based on a first glance, the FFG/LFL team-up to produce the Raider seems to be working.

So sure, bring it on. The more the merrier, just so long as it fits the universe and - as noted above - the "new" characters don't eclipse the existing Heroes of the Rebellion

I would have very much preferred a new, made-up pilot to sticking Etahn A'baht, a freaking fleet commander, in an E-wing.

Id be ok as long as they don't forget about the good eu characters. Like if they started making up Z-95 Pilots before putting mara jade in a z

I'm game.

FFG haven't led us far wrong yet so Yer I would be OK with it. At the end of the day does it really matter too much. We can always make up some good stories about the newly made up people.

I am definitely in support of them making more original pilots and ships.

I am all for letting the originality fly, though I would still like to see some of the existing EU characters make an appearance, like a Shira Brie X-Wing. And there are a ton of ships from the EU material that they haven't even touched.

As a last bit, wouldn't it be cool if the Raider showed up in Rebels at some point since it is from right around that time frame, and Lucasfilm was apparently involved in the design as well?

Hell yeah!!

I have FAR more trust with FFG adding new content to star wars than Disney business suits or JarJar Abhamram

I would only really be excited about originals if FFG started putting out lore. The game is one where I get to fly awesome characters in awesome ships, not a bunch of number crunching and eyeballing. Without lore, I don't see why one doesn't simply play chess or Risk. It is a huge reason why I am blocked in thinking of a good YT-2400 list - I hate Shadows of the Empire, so any list feels frustrating to me.

Remember, FFG cannot create anything without LFL's (and to a lesser extent, Disney's) approval. That is so LFL can ensure the continuity and consistency of the Star Wars story. So really, anything created at this point is created is an official part of the story. There is no EU going forward; the existing EU is dead ("legacy") and everything new must now be canon.

I'd say FFG has earned their claim on star wars, so absolutely. That said, there are plenty of existing movie pilots (at least Rebel anyway).

If they do come up with some new pilots, I'd like to see it paired with some lore, as previously mentioned. Maybe some campaigns to give the new pilots some context.
