How about some new mines with real teeth?

By KILODEN, in X-Wing

all of us who played TIE fighter or X-Wing vs TIE fighter remember the laser mines.

why not the same thing in ordnance form for bombers to drop. the turrets will have a range of 2 an attack of 2, 2 hull points and 3 evade due to the small size.

I don't remember this being brought up before so I apologize if it has.

way OP. you have to dedicate an entire turn to taking out what is effectively a new ship! 2 hp, 0 or 1 evade and that might be balanced. of course, you didnt mention points cost, but still, be careful with adding things that can shoot.

I'd also give them a range of 1 max. Laser mines were annoying but hardly anything else. And as they were deployed by dedicated ships, maybe instead of asteroids?

Laser mines are super thematic for the setting. SWtOR has whole strategic area denial minefields full of the things.

Action: Deploy a Laser Mine using the 1 Straight template.

Laser Mine:

2 Attack

0 Agility

2 Hull

0 Shields

PS 0

8 points

Laser Mines do not reveal a maneuver dial, nor do they take actions.

I'd make them 2 attack, 1 hull, 0 agility. Cost of 4 points.

In the games only one laser blast was needed to destroy them so 1 hull is appropriate. Give them 0 agility, but a built in sensor jammer ability, so you really need to "focus" to destroy one.

we were discussing new bomb upgrades at a tournament and this occurred to me:

Drop the bomb token. It stays in play. doesn't detonate. It has 1 hull and 3 evade. Any enemy ship performing the target lock action must lock onto the new bomb if able.

now this is interesting!

It should totally count as a ship so it can get the free modification slot. Pimp My Mine?

I'd like to see more way more mines, like the ones from the Transport scenario. Those were fun to play against.

Something like this but I would restrict their range to 1. They should act like a mine and be kind of an area denial weapon.

I'd like to see an Ion mine that acts like a seismic, but also gives an Ion token for maybe 3 points.

Some new variations of the Proximity Mine would be nice, but I think FFG is reluctant to add another bomb that takes up so much cardboard space.

I'm not sure I'd like to see bombs that can make repeated attacks but I have suggested "Weapon Defense platforms" in the past. I was thinking about them as a ship type with special deployment rules. They'd certainly be soft targets but could be equipped with good weapons although they wouldn't shoot very early.

Personally I would like to see some buzz droids as they are still used by the more scum types of star wars in the same era of where the ships used in the game are at now. Perhaps when a buzz droid hits its intended target it can do something like one damage and a effect to a pilot skill or one damage and a negative one to agility for a round.

I would love buzz droids. Perhaps with a proximity mine sized template.

So much potential for those too.

Fly through the buzz swarm, roll 3 red dice, gain one buzz droid token for each hit or crit you roll.

At the start of combat roll one red die for each buzz token you have. On a Crit discard one of your upgrade cards (maximum 1 per round.) On a hit result gain a stress (no maximum per round).

If you bump a ship, transfer one of your buzz tokens to them.

Action: roll a green die, on a focus or evade result discard a buzz droid.

Or something.

I really hope buzz droids show up.

End effect should be some detrimental ongoing effect.

Hell yes. Im on board with seeing the buzz droids in the game...they have so much potential for some scum faction mayhem....

I only thought about the buzz droid because I been doing wookiepedia reads in all the scum and villany ships and I belive it was either the Star Viper or the Aggressor that could use or would use buzz droids. And I thought to myself..."man that would be some good fun to be able to use buzz droids as a weapon on the X-Wing minature game. Who knows I suggested for an IG-2000 ship back when wave four was out and look what we got....maybe we will see it happen

THe raider looks like it has some type of mine tokens for scenario.

"Mine Type A": I'd give it 3 health and and attack that is equal to health so that as you clear the mine field it gets less deadly.
And for like 5 or so extra points you can get an alternative "Mine Type C" which gives it a Missile upgrade that it gets to fire when destroyed against the ship that attacked it, ignoring all target lock requirements.
Heck let's go broke and have Ion mine fields too!

The Zahn Consortium (Scum Faction) used buzz droids with their star vipers and stuff in the computer game Empire at War.

IF BUZZ DROIDS SHOW UP, I THINK IT WILL BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

ROLL 3 ATTACK DICE

SUFFER DAMAGE ROLLED AND 1 ION TOKEN PER FOCUS ROLLED

SWARM STAYS IN PLAY LIKE A PROX MINE

I have a gut feeling the next mine type will be ION type
